.. have really gone completely to shit with their last
album.

the album before that was already quite crap, but this last
one is just the last nail in the coffin.

and their first "hope is important" is such a great record.
:(

the first two albums (+ E.P.) have a harder edge to them,
seem to come more from a punk direction, but with lots of
great energy.

the two albums that came after that are filled with the
blandest form of semi-guitar pop I've heard in years.
everything that was kind of interesting and exciting about
them has gone.

you could play one of those records and a norah jones album
and noone would bat an eyelid.

allmusic..i suppose this is good :)

The captain EP was the only decent thing they ever put out.
The rest is bland bollocks as far as i'm concerned, chaps.

100 Broken Windows was their best IMO. They are gradually
becoming REM now.

"and their first "hope is important" is such a great record"
this was kind of enough to get me interested..

Hope is important is terrible compared to the
captain EP... i actually gave it away. It's been a
while since i've heard it and my tastes might've changed a
bit, but it just sounded too polished and "studio-ish" to
me. I didn't bother after that :-(((

Gutted.

I really liked it. I don't hear such a great difference in
production between the two and certainly not in the style of
songwriting.

still lots of screaming guitars and lots of shouting!

im just joining in at the end without reading the rest of
this (cos im alme) but i ahte the new idlewild single it
sounds like a bad immitation of rem. (he sounds very stipe)
and its so generic its awful! just dull!

I suppose that much is Troo, concerning all the bellowing
and ruckus and whatnot. I think it was hearing a few live
tracks early on that spoiled me, really... All those catchy
little shouty-pop tunes but, um, "cranked to 11" would be
the metal parlance i believe. They could be really quite
intense, lots of feedback, gnashing and wailing of teeth, so
it's a shame to hear the drivel they're putting out
nowadays.

I lost my original 100 Broken Windows many years ago. I just
bought it again, and yes, it rocks hard. Wooooooooooo

What a shame they've become so shit. They had such a vital
energy, like an angsty REM, and now they are like a bad
REM.

Idea Track - sounds like heavy My Bloody Valentine, rock on.

I would have to agree, sadly. I just remembered I saw them
live a long time ago, I think just before The Remote Part...
their live show was still pretty intense then, but I
disowned them when I heard the record. And I haven't even
bothered with the new one.
