the front of my case comes off easily (don't ask), and it
fell off the other day. The cables connecting the power
button the the motherboard got yanked pretty hard, but
seemed to still be connected... So today I try turn my
computer on, and just my luck it doesn't boot up. After
opening the case and examining the connections I found that
every single one of the cables running from the power button
area (power, reset, LEDs, etc) was disconnected
except for the power button one. I spent about 15
minutes trying various combinations such as plugging all the
wires back in; some of them; just the power button one, etc.
Nothing I tried could get it to work. I guess the only thing
I can do now is take it to Comp USA or Best Buy or
something... goddamnit this blows.

I can either spend the money to get it fixed or spend the
rest of my computing days in my roomates' rooms (no thank
you.)

but yeah, I was looking at the writing on the connectors =p

the problem is that even when the "power button" cable is
connected properly, my computer does not power on....
something very foul is afoot here.

take the ends off, twist them all together and plug them
directly into the wall socket- works every time.

LOL... all the mac users seem to be brainwashed into
thinking they got a good deal.

"Yeah, I would love to spend 2000 dollars on a really nice
looking paperweight. I can check my email with this!!!"
