VSnares thought for today

I'm very sad to report that the new Hungarian titled
Venetian Snares is his worst release since 237 0894. It's
really sad. Initially I loved it - but it has started to
suck with age and will likely just get worse.

In other VS news, Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding just
keeps getting better. A wonderful release.

HOLY SHIT, I couldnt agree more with what you said.
Its obvious that this is just another recipe release and
Huge Chrome Cylinder box took years to make in the
background, rather than the couple months (if that) he
spends on his other useless crap.

Bravo. I was going to make a post about this. Now I dont
have to.

Don't diss Hungarian-sounding music, biatch.

I'm very glad to report that the new Hungarian titled
Venetian Snares is his best release since 237 0894. It's
really rad. Initially I loved it - but it has started to

It mentions Hungary for a start...

2370894 is one of my favourite vsnares albums. Fuck Toronto
Jungle and Nobody Ever Really Understands Anybody are
benchmark snares tracks to me. Also Huge Chrome Cylinder is
very good. So I can't really go wrong with Roszs Czzillag
Pos Msdnumajgthhiujbnve

Yeah same here. It took me about 45 minutes to discover that
yes, this album is appalling. I don't know about HCCBU, it's
not a great album but there are some decent moments within.

Masodik Galamb is my favorite Snares song, right next to
Fire Beats. He really shows his melodic ability in Senki
Dala, an ability that is greatly underused in his music
(like that peice of crap Winnipeg release).

I don't see what the big deal is with HCCBU... it's got cool
sounds but it sounds like it was slopped together in a day.

I don't think it shows melodic ability since all he does is
sample classical and rearrange it.

i'm not too keen on HCCBU but it has its moments

i'm not keen on Rossz Csillag cuz i feel like he is doing a
mix between Doll Doll Doll and chocolate whellchair, that's
to say he is doing the same record again ; nevertheless it
sounds nice

FC and WITBOAS remain my favs

I actually dig the classical side of things, I think his
beats suck on this album, but I like the music behind it

(he actually learnt to play the violin and trumpet for this
album, and plays on several tracks)

Agreed.

The classical side seems to work. I'm less convinced when
it's combined with super-Snares breaks.

I've only heard a couple off samples yet from the hungarian
titled and i already love it, but i like the classical sound
from the snares

If Aphex Twin made this album people would be all over it,
trust me.

It's obviously a very fun and ejoyable album.

Aaron Funk (aka Venetian Snares) hails from Winnipeg in
Canada. Since his debut 12" in 1999 on a small Minneapolis
label, he has risen from the faceless breakcore underground
to become one of the most astonishing (and popular)
musicians working in the experimental electronic sphere
(alongside Squarepusher, Aphex Twin and Boards Of Canada).
Each new album from Aaron brings with it a new sound, a new
atmosphere, a whole new world - he tries never to repeat
what's gone before.
"Rossz Csillag Allat Született" is his 12th studio album
and his most mature work yet. Inspired by a trip to Hungary
while on European tour, Aaron found himself on the Kir‡lyi
Palota (Budapest's Royal Palace) imagining himself as a
pigeon. This somewhat unlikely scenario was an epiphany for
Funk, inspiring some of his most heartfelt work to date. The
baroque strings and eastern European melodies were the
starting point for these compositions, with Aaron's
trademark jungle rhythms added only later as accents to
increase the intensity. For this record Aaron learned the
trumpet and electric violin which both feature prominently.
It even contains a cover of Rezsâ„¢ Seress' notorius
"Hungarian Suicide Song" aka Gloomy Sunday in it's Hungarian
title "…ngyilkos Vas‡rnap".

titles and they are pretty funny.
