i haven't listened to draft in a real long time, but i dug it out just to compare the two, and i must say that i have no idea why some people find it hard to belive that leak 1 (the long version) is fake. what's the difference there?? it's like it was the same album almost..ahh |

what made me bring this up is people saying untilted is way too simplistic to be autechre see and saying how much more complex was draft. i beg your pardon? |

I, for one, amd more interested in the implications of supposed fakes seeded onto the peer to peer networks and fueled/mutated on messageboards, than the actual music itself. Very interesting techno-socio observations! I am anxious to see how it unfolds. |

well that sjort version was obviously fake..very amateurish..but im sure this long version is real...im not concerned either way really as there's plenty of other music i can listen to, it's just that i usually go with the board hype :) |

"yeah i believe it is. I've listened to all of it and i'm a tad confused as whether to believe i am listening to the new autechre album or someone who has created quite a convincing fake. The problems i have with the album (and remember this is just one listen). 1) Its mainly rhythmic and to the point where there is nothing but that! Some may say this is typical Autechre but really it isnt if u actually listen to Autechre deeply (strokes chin). There is always some melody underneath even if the melody may be fragmented big time! :) 2) There are noticeable samples from Draft 7.30 within a couple of tracks. Autechre have sampled old works but this appears to be a poor mans kind of sampling and doesnt really add anything. i'm not explaining myself very good here but it was noticeable which makes me doubt. 3) Everything seems too loop driven. Ok so we all know Autechre are loop driven but they tend to make their loops very long and they interchange a lot. These tracks contain very noticeable loops and make it more accessible (this is why Stimpee probably enjoyed it :P ). 4) It sounds like a jam. Its the kind of thing i would expect to hear in a live environment. Not a bad thing but i wudnt expect Autechre to release this kind of thing. Someone mentioned elsewhere that this release is either 1) a good new Autechre album 2) a good fake Autechre album 3) a bad new Autechre album 4) a bad fake Autechre album On one listen i am geared towards number 2 because it doesnt sound bad but there is a lot missing that i would expect Autechre to do. Long tracks are normally 3/4 minutes of random builds until it comes together and then of course they sometimes mash it up again (like Draft!). We have plenty of builds but nothing that gels and in fact there tends to be two or three parts to most tracks. ... |

I think that autechre are at their best now ... Considering all their releases... It's been getting better, more technical, etc... In my opinion, if there would be a time to be at their peak.. It would be now.. Untilted will be rich in everything ... I can't wait. |
