Just to remind UKers that Nathan Barley starts on channel 4
tonight at 10.00. You know you have to see it.

Toad is the best character.

Anyways, I bet £5 Nathan Barley will be the Letdown of the
Year so far.

If it's no better than the new series of look around you,
some people are going to be in a world of hurt.

I can't make my high hopes go away but the adverts haven't
exactly cracked me up.

If it's anything like the new series of Look Around You,
I'll forget to watch it

I couldn't get my shit housemates off the playstation until
10.21 so I missed most of it, but it made me laugh a few
times so I'm not diheartened as yet.

i thought it was great! i laughed a lot. the
characterisation will take a bit to get used to, but the
timing & thr acting are spot on. or maybe i'm just an idiot.
you reckon that's how CM sees other people? and is dan
ashcroft aphex twin?

offline deepspace9mm from filth on 2005-02-11 15:42 [#01495986]

It thought it was just alright... i'm not sure morris' sense
of humour translates very well into a sitcom format. It felt
like it was "borrowing" other comedies' character ideas too
(peep show and the office spring to mind), except nowhere
near as subtly. I dunno, i'm hoping it's going to be a
grower.

you should read the shit thats on cookd and bombd. there
about 300 people on their forum at the moment slagging the
tits off it.

I reckon it will be a grower. Its not Brass Eye. But its a
decent sitcom touchwood... The interview scene made me laugh
:)

Although I have to admit I was horrified when Nathan seemed
to be ripping off David Brent.

I spotted BoC and Prefuse 73 in there...

Ok, can you steer me to a site where I can download this
from.

Do not put a direct link here, you will probably get in
trouble if you do.

But if anyone finds somewhere "steer me" in the right
direction

i laughed loads at it. sure there was some slow bits but all
chris morris does...there's plenty of unfunny bits in
brasseye. Build them up/knock them down seems to be the
usual sentiment.

i look forward to the next one.

i thought it was pretty good, not as good as i'd hoped.

There is far too much of Brent in Nathan tho, for example
the use of A.K.A. etc,

Kinda reminds of Spaced but not as good

I got a full copy of the first episode. I really liked it
and will be watching episode two this evening. The main
problem is that Nathan Barley himself wasn't so funny, and
if he's supposed to hold the thing together it might not
work.

Chris Morris always loses some of his previous admirers with
each new project of his.
