Broken iPod. Why?

Why do people spend loads of money on broken iPods?

Do a search on eBay and you'd be amazed at the amount of
money people shell out for iPods that just aren't ever going
to work again.
The most I saw so far was £75!

more to the point, why do people spend time looking at other
people buying broken iPods?

"that just aren't ever going to work again. "

thing is, the people who are buying them prolly know how to
fix them, so they will work again, and then they sell it on
ebay again for like 5x the price they bought it for

If you're resourceful enough, you can coerce Apple to
exchange it for a new one. First of all, in the EU, there
are consumer protection laws that guarantee that a product
should have a "reasonable lifespan". If you wrangle with
their reps enough, I'm sure it's possible. Otherwise, Apple
has a "battery replacement program" for $99 US (£75) -- at
least in the States. What most people don't know is that
they don't bother replacing your battery. They simply send
you a new or refurbished iPod (their website confirms this.)

back in the day people used to sell their ipods because they
thought they were broken, when in many cases they just
needed to be reset, then they'd work perfectly again.

i dunno if they still do that.
