Kay, all this talk of acid has gotten me thinking of acid again. Which do you prefer; the fast acid made popular by luke vibert, []<, afx, ceephax and the lot, or the slower moody acid made popular by plastikman, luke vibert & thomas brinkmann?

I like both. im not really into the hiphoppy tempo acid as much as i am into the dancey/quirky stuff. I like really fast shit too. so i dunno. i dont have much of a preference,i guess.

it's really hard to say, I loved rdj's men01 stuff, and luke viberts acid stylings are great
but platikmans musik is also incredible I think I find the faster stuff more entertaining

i prefer slower, brooding stuff most of the time. fast paced acid is nice every so often but i cant listen to it all the time.

Yeah, some of thomas brinkmanns moodier, slower acid has a super fast beat, but the music goes at 1/2 the speed. Good stuff!

I think that acid is a far broader spectrum than can be embraced by mentioning Vibert or Aphex. They fuck about with the genre, they are hardly representative of the nebulous entity acknowledged as "Acid".

I agree. Those names were just examples. Good examples when dropped in a place like this. Honestly, I don't know much acid outside of the idm field, although I intend to get to the bottom of this... any suggestions?

I like your style, yessssssssss outside the IDM field, I mean I must admit i am not an authority on the early field of acid, you might have to ask Earthleakage, all i'd say is that the genre evolved from possibly the US and mutated in the UK. My favorittes, which are purely personal are:
Baby Ford: Oochie Koochie Hardfloor: Trancescript Any early 808 State
There's loads of stuff that's gone by the wayside that if heard today would be deemed genius. Ask Earthleakage if he's got any tapes from that halcyon era.
