Hi Mate, I know you're a bit of a lurker, but if you're
reading this, can you post/give me an email. I'm probably
going to move to gloucester and wanted to check a few
things. Cheers.

If I stay here I'll want to kill myself. My flatmate is
being an utter cunt. I've found a cheaper place where I
won't be sharing, but it's in Gloucester, hence I want to
talk to someone who has lived there for a bit.

I hear Gloucester is a bit rough in places, but whenever
people have warned me of that before, it has always seemed
quirte mild. I suppose growing up in Barry makes you immune
to some degree :)

Do you still live in North Wales, or is that just where you
come from?

ooh, my mate lives down there, there are some well nice
houses in that area, and plush new swanky flats also.... as
long as you won't be moving to white city or matson you'll
be fine..

Cheers, any other areas I should avoid? What's up with those
areas (drugs gangs, etc.)?

they're just skummy council estate areas mostly.

yeah barton street is also a dodgy area at night. as is the
town centre. all the clubs are shit. there is no good
electronic scene, although a local club 'crackers' sometimes
has dnb or psy trance nights and stuff like that, which are
far from great, but can be worth checking out. all the clubs
are full of cunts who want to bottle you and play r'n'b/pop
etc. not nice places. the best pub is probably cafe réné,
nice atmosphere, good beers, leftfield music played in the
background. london road is a nice walking distance to the
centre and there are regular buses, including ones going to
cheltenham, which is so much nicer....

Yes, I've been looking at Cheltenham, I wish I'd moved there
to begin with (rather than to cirencester)- prices have gone
up since then and are now out of my range. :-/

I probably won't be night clubbing- I'll probably be in
Cardiff/Bristol/Bath at weekends. Also, I'm only looking to
live there for 6 months or so.

Ta for your advice, v. useful.

ok no prob.
yes, getting out of gloucester for weekends has to be a good
thing. dunno if you're aware of this, but massive
attack & portishead are playing in bristol soon...
