Pizza Delivery Job

Is this a good job? Has anyone done it (for a major chain
like dominoes). I'm thinking about getting one. You use your
own car and pay for your own gas and get payed minimum wage,
but there's tips too. I'm just wondering if the tips will
basically cancel out price of the gas you pay for, resulting
in a minimum wage job with no tips.

no, you can usually make decent monye but it really depends
on the area you live (area you deliver to).

where abouts are you anyways?

I haven't done it personally, but I have acquaintances who
have made a lot of money doing it. Depending on where you
live, I'm pretty sure you get some sort of reimbursement for
mileage, but it's hard on your car.

i was a manager of a pizza place back in high school days

most part.

if you're as nice in real life as you're here, you'll be all
right.

Also, I think you can just claim the minimum amount of tips
to be taxed, so you probably won't have to pay in quite as
much as with a steady hourly wage.

sometimes people slit the delivery boy's throat and leave
him to die in the weeds, just to get his pepperonis.

I'm in K4liforn14.. but in some lost town nobody has heard
of which I'm pretty sure has somehow lagged behind the rest
of civilization 10 or so years in time. Apartments are only
425 buckizoids a monthisus here. That's why I don't have to
give too much of a shit about money (or stock options..).

Basically it would be a risk to take this job because I'd
have to sacrifice my current job. My current job is actually
GREAT, except for one seemingly insignificant thing that
makes it TERRIBLE.. the incesant shit music they play on the
intertebulon. (I currently work at a grocery store stocking
stuff quite lazily).

My current job only has me working 24 hours a week too,
which is AWESOME because working sucks. I'm guaranteed 24
hours though. maybe the delivery job won't guarantee me any.
I hate everything. Sometimes. What? Shut up. Stop talking to
myself. No.

I worked as a delivery driver for 2 years for Pizza Hut.

for the most part it was a good job. i made good money in
tips. pizza hut gave me money per run for gas/wear and tear
on my car.
i could basically drive around listening to music for a few
hours and i got to eat a lot of free pizza. this was bout 4
years ago and i think with tips and wages it worked out to
anywhere from $9-$15 dollars or more per hour depending on
the night and time of year!

Good! Thanks for telling me. Now I'm optimistic about it
because I only make 7.40 right now (ha ha ha, I seriously
survive on a 7.40/hour job with only 24 hours a week...
that's how frugal I am. Top ramen tastes good.)

That's what I was thinking though.. if I could listen to my
own music in my car (instead of shit store music) I'd become
less insane and irritated.

Did they kind of force you to work a 40 hour week?... or
less? If I made 9 dollars an hour I'd only want to work 20
hours a week, heh heh.

Three kids dressed in trenchcoats shot and killed 11 people
in their school today before turning the guns on themselves.
Their favorite music was autechre and aphex twin.

That's another thing, damnit... my car isn't good enough to
handle this. That means I have to endure shit music for
another decade before I can afford a new car and then job
change.

get a sweet little vespa thingie with a rack on the back
(that's where you strap the pizzas), and use that as your
delivery ride.

'cept you gotta wear a cape while your riding it.

if you're allowed to use a motorcycle or something to save
gas. I doubt it.

a friend of mine worked as a pizza delivery boy in a rich
neighborhood (berkley hills in california) and made utterly
obscene amounts of cash in tips. i think it really depends
on your area.

ha ha ha, that's kind of funny.. and kind of sad.. of course
I suppose the proportion of more expensive cost of
living/rent in such an area would even it out.

Yes, vespa riders need capes.. and large goggles.

Will your car insurance provider care? Could they raise your
rate or force you to buy more coverage? Assuming you have
insurance.

I guess all jobs kinda suck. Always annoying, backstabbing
coworkers with individual pet peeves. Always annoying
bosses. Always afraid of loosing your job even though you
might quit. The only thing I like about jobs, most of the
time, is the work. Best thing is to find a job where you are
in contact with pretty girls all the time or are alone most
of the time.
