Man I'm sick of trying to get this right. Im pretty happy with the layout but the wording is annoying me. Any tips? Whats the difference between cv/resume? Must it be 3rd person? Can you talk about yourself in 3rd person. i.e. Rick adapted quickly... etc. Or do u have any general tips? Thanks people.

You can lie about your personality, so long as your a decent actor in interviews. You can't really lie about your technical skills (but you can exaggerate a bit), unless you know you won't be quizzed/tested on it. What job are you going for?
No third person, they'll think you're schizoid...

so nothing like "A passionate, hard working team player currently seeking a satisfying role to play. Recently attained a 2:1 BSc (Hons) Multimedia Technology..." then?

...but I never put American style, team-oriented, self marketing bollocks like that on CVs. Chances are, if they like that sort of stuff on CVs, they'll like that in the office too.
I prefer to be straight with them and speak in a down to earth way in interviews. Even being quite candid about shortcomings etc. I prefer to be in a job where I don't have to put on an act each day.

Sorry, I didn't mean "bollocks" in an unkind way- If you're happy to engage in management-speak that's fine. On principle, I don't, so I don't write that way, so people don't get the wrong impression.
Anyway, what's the job?

If it was 3rd person, I rekcon it'd look like a reference from a teacher/past employer. Maybe you've seen a reference somewhere and read too much into that, or seen a book with badly written examples?

keep your resume short, sharp, and to the point; a page or two at absolute most, laid out with plenty of spacing and distinct sections, and in a reasonable size font. remember, employers are lazy (yes, that includes me), and the reason they're employing you is so they can continue to be lazy. reading long CV's is something they really can't be arsed doing - if you want the job, make their life easy.
you can also intimidate an employer if your resume looks too good; most employers are cheap bastards who want to pay you as least as they can. i've managed to scare off many potential employers who have later (now being business associates) admitted that they thought i'd have demanded too much :)
