THIS is a list worth reading

I think Contra should have made it, certainly it was a
QUALITY precursor to today's ultraviolence. And Mario 3,
just because, if you played it back then as a young 'un, it
probably blew your mind more than anything else. I know I
was blown away.

Zelda is a weird omission too. And Goldeneye. I think Tomb
Raider, Jet Grind, and Parappa the Rapper, God bless them
and all, could be bumped in favor of some of these games.
But that's nitpicking, and you're required by law to nitpick
these lists. It's a good one.

(the list also seems to be missing a truly quality side
scrolling shooter, a la Thunder Force or R-Type... oh well)

I think they're in the middle of wrapping things up. I'd say
number 49 is undoubtedly going to be Grand Theft Auto 3...
50... I'm at a loss.

I dont understand how you can start out with a game like
"spacewar" and then release something so stupid and dumbed
down as 'pong'. Its like de-evolution.

Too much, too soon. 1962, that's pre-Beatles. Think about
that. Had to ease the general public into it, 'cuz they/we
are like, stupid, y'know.

ET and MULE were both gash. A bit too much nostalgia (as
opposed to solid, playable games that are still enjoyable
today) in that list IMO.

Faceball 2000 was never significant and what's Myst there
for? For its contribution to getitng "middle class dads into
gaming"? Similarly Dragons Lair, first case of style over
substance?

Bad influence is still influence, hehe. There's some truly
rotten games on there, they point that out.

Certainly omitted games like Metroid and Castlevania are
still fun and playable while a lot of these are just relics.

Omitting Star Control 2 and XCOM: UFO Defense means it can't
be respected.
