Hot damn, that's positively heartwarming. Beats my
one-less-night-in-the-pub 30 squids anyway.

it is impressive, but its also logical and pretty straight
foward. I garuntee that no christians are willing to sell
their church to help others, if they do, then they are doing
exactly what jesus would do. Any christian church that isn't
sold, is fucking hippocritical and going against Jesus'
teachings imo.

Christians believe that the church belongs to god, and that
it is not in their right to sell it. At least, thats the
idea. Buddhists believe nothing really exists... how can you
sell nothing? You can if your a buddhist

pretty straightforward.

background, then confusion!

any words are present in your mouth they were put there by
yourself.

now homeless people in Asia! :D

Actually, a lot of historic churches have sold off their
"luxurious" stuff, like gold crosses, gem encrusted
chalices, etc. to raise money for the poor, in recent
years.

As to selling the building, a nice gesture, but it seems a
bit strange. Re-mortgaging it would make more sense to me
(they'd have to have somewhere else to worship anyway,
unless someone in the church/mosque/whatever has a massive
house).

My company just donated £100,000. Not bad for a bunch of
capitalist pigs, eh?

that's kind, but i don't see why churches would have to own
stuff like gold anyway, doesn't sound very christian.

Yes, some of them realised the same, thankfully...

It's a hangover from the old Roman Catholic church when it
was more powerful than the state in a lot of places. In the
UK, most broke away to become Anglican, but still kept a lot
of Roman Catholic style architecture, gold, stained glass
windows, etc. general excess.

Go to an italian, greek or spanish cathedral if you want to
see real excess. Gold leaf on everything!

they dont need a 'place' to worship. God will hear them no
matter where they pray. Let them gather in a park or
something. If their faith was strong they wouldn't need a
church to emphasize their religion.

yeah, i've been to italian and spanish churches. the main
church in venice is a good example of that excess.

Some faiths actively encourage "congreagations". If you have
nowhere to gather, how does that work?
