What's Your Whiskey?

I've always hated hard liquors, but recently I've
developed quite a taste for whiskey - Wild Turkey 101
(bourbon) in particular. I'm looking to buy a few more
bottles - what's your favorite?

How do you feel about Jack lowering their proof to 80?

Somewhat recently, there was an online petition/boycott to
try and stop it.

I tried that stuff one time mixed with cola - is it really
as sweet as I remember?

Ok, I've got this book from the library in front of me and
the author says that SoCo isn't a whiskey at all, but a
"mixture of spirit, peach and lemon matured in oak barrels".
She goes on to assert "Today the company markets the drink
simply as a liqueur."

But yeah, I've been drinking all of this boubon neat -
that's the only way to go as far as i'm concerned right this
instant. I just never liked to mix liquor, I used to just
hold my breath and shoot it and then chase it as soon as
possible. At this moment I have a glass of Jim Beam (no ice)
which I am swirling around my mouth and washing my gums
before I swallow. Beam is ok, but lacks character I feel.
Wild Turkey 101 makes your fucking gums numb and gives you
this great "woosh" as you swallow it and take that first
breath.

oh man i love Suntory Hibiki
but its difficult to locate here
so i lean on Makers Mark which is so bomb, especially if you
throw like 2 good ice cubes into 3 fingers of it!

I'm more into vodka. My friend the death metal singer really
likes his scotch though - the gory extra peaty varieties
that coat the inside of your mouth with a corpse-goo that
lingers for hours. Bleah.

not really a bourbon fan myself, i prefer my scotch whiskey.
bells, jameson, southern comfort are all reasonably prices
whiskey which i enjoy. when im a bit strapped for cash i
usually go for a cheaper option, something like first watch
(eeuw) or scottish leader.

Jameson or jack daniels, although the local offy has got a
bulk-buy offer on famous grouse at the minute. Whisky rots
my guts anyway, nice as it is.

yech! burbon! burbon is sugary water.

Jameson is good while not being pricy, so while I enjoy
other wiskeys more, I'll have to say Jameson is my whiskey,
since that's what I drink.

Hell Yes! I just had my first glass of Maker's Mark and
I'm in love. Full mouth, yet so smooth with the finish. I've
been dying to try Rare Breed but I'm a little afraid of the
$27.99 price tage for a 750ml bottle. How does it compare to
Maker's for you?

I haven't tried much in the way of Irish and Scottish
whiskeys - I'm not so sure I'm very big on blends. For some
reason they have always tasted a little bit "weak" or
"watery" to me. Maybe I would like single malt scotch.
