Maus is amazing, yes. Not read the watchmen yet. I'd
recommend the work of chris ware if you like "maus" though.

the filth was awesome, but you should really read The
Invisibles first.

the best comic book since Watchmen imho and absolutely
essential reading. get them all and read from start to
finish.

The Filth expands on some of the concepts of The Invisibles,
but is a little shallower.

deepest comic ever written.

Watchmen is ace, apparently the Comedian's smiley face logo
badge influenced the acid house smiley. It's hard to prove
though, because it had been around for years before that,
but still...

And it's the best comic ever.

been meaning to get this for ages, just heard about the new
movie which reminded me about it.

might buy Watchmen now, but i'm a little cautious, reading
something massively hyped as the 'best comic ever', is it
really that good? I've never really bothered with comics
before...

It's not just an excellent comic, it's an excellent book,
incredibly layered with some surprisingly deep psychological
studies. Reread it for the third time about a month ago and
I don't think it'll ever be possible to do it justice in a
single film. Especially with the director of 300 at the
helm.

Tomorrow night, midnight showing with the missus. I hear the
gore and action has been ramped up and that Ozymandias is
poorly done. Hopefully it'll just be good enough to not
discourage people from reading the comic.

I'm seeing it very soon. Don't have my hopes up, but I'm
expecting an entertaining and somewhat faithful rendition of
the comic. Apparently they're taking some liberties with the
story, which doesn't sound like a good idea.

The book is one of my all time favourites, and I just read
it a few weeks ago and also wrote a short essay on it.

I kinda wish they'd make a movie based on The Invisibles
next, but I also kinda wish they didn't...

I just saw it. They practically nailed it. Some people are
going to hate it because its a big budget movie. I don't
think they could have done the book better in any way unless
they added a couple of the more subtle details that were in
the comic.

Saw it last night. Havn't read the comic. Thought it was
quite average. I don't think they quite knew what to do
with the material..... it was half-serious,
half-feather-weight, or maybe that's what the comic is
like?

And where did that cat/lynx come from? And shouldn't it be
a massive blue all-powerful cat/lynx now?!?!?!?

the cat/lynx thing was something to do with his genetic
experiments i think.

I just came back from seeing it, my friends loved it and
want to read the comic, personally having read the comic I
think it was good but not great.

Kudo's for getting so much of the comic into the film
though, it was almost there and isn't the disaster it could
have been.

There were a few issues I had however, the only super
powerful being was supposed to be Dr Manhattan, however we
see some of the others punching through walls amongst other
silly over the top action sequences.

Adrian Veidt looks like a weakling, lord knows how he can
leap so far and throw people twice his weight across a
room.

It needed to be more gritty and realistic, honestly this
film was way too glossy looking, Mars and the thing Dr
Manhattan creates is far too cg looking, is cg still not
good enough to look real?!

I think the director has an issue with over stylising his
films, lots of slow motion into real time scenes which only
serve remind you that your watching a movie rather than
immersing you.

Sex scene wasn't as bad as I expected, from what people had
been saying I was expecting something much more explicit.

Use of pop music was a bit distracting, some nice bits
though.

The actor playing Rorsarch was the most perfect thing about
the film.

And OMG, what the hell is going on with Nixon's nose?! This
was laughable.
