ok. now we know.

they're both idiots, but Kerry is still the better choice of
the two.

the best choice would be an intelligent man.

iq's do not only calculate your mathematical skills but
critical thinking skills. no matter which way you cut
it.
iq's are one of the best known exams in analyzing
someones ability to simplify a complex problem.

err??

IQ is for recognision of patterns and mathematical skills,
and has nothing to do with simplifying problems. A problem
that exists in math can probably be simplified easier by a
person with high IQ, but a real-life problem.. well, that's
another story. again: if you know the answer to 2+2, that
does NOT mean you know how to run a country.

like, a person who knows nothing about physics can see the
easiest solution to a problem in physics.

maybe he's not as dumb as the media over there portrays
him.. I wouldn't know, since the only thing remotely
up-to-date they show from america is the late night show
with david letterman (the other stuff is sitcoms and
drama-shows..), and he's been nagging about bush being a
cheerleader for about a year, so... but he's badgering both
of the candidates, though. Bush IS portrayed as stupid in
norwegian media, but they also portray the entire electional
circus as stupid, and they do it for both the candidates...
like that rock/election-meeting Kerry had in California or
something.. there was a rock-concert and Kerry had a
election-rally...

why do they have those rallies, btw? I think Michael Moore
said it best on "the awful truth," when he said "the only
people that go to Bush's rallies are people that are already
voting for him, and the only people who go to Kerry's
rallies are the ones who are already voting for HIM..."

about freedom of speech.. well.. freedom of speech is
non-existant in america.

or.. well.. you may say whatever you want, but society will
either ignore or imprison you (I'm not talking literally
here.. it's metaphors for what happens to for instance
socialists in america (surveillance and exclusion from
society. not necessarily performed by any governmental
institution or "global conspiracy," but rather people around
you). Best example: when Ali G dressed up as the gay german
guy was talking to the gun-fanatic in some gun-fair, and he
asked about gay people and guns or something and the guy,
after defending his right to free speech and his right to
have a gun to defend himself, ordered Ali G to go away,
'cause he couldn't talk about homosexuals).

anyway, I'm done at work for the day. This discussion may or
may not continue tomorrow.. depends on if it has been lost
in the black dot.

yeah i saw that episode and i understand where u come from.
i have people who are close to me that are homosexual's.
some in our country at the moment have a warfare mentality.
i think it snowballed the instance the US became allies with
the only democratic nation in the middle east that being
israel. right now about half of the country has a warfare
mentality, even homosexuals like the ones I know aren't so
concerned with their civil rights, which are bareable at the
moment. i agree with you that things need to change

give it time. people will change eventually.

An IQ test measures your ability to solve that particular
test, and not much more. It's foolish to judge
anybody on them - you can maybe tell a difference
between two people if one regularly scores like 10, 20+
points more than the other on each test, but as others have
pointed out, that's still a silly thing to use as a basis
for evaluating somebody's usefulness as President. If one
scored (less than ten points!) lower, but isn't easily
influenced and surrounded half by giant rigid flesh-eating
ideologues of doom and half by cartoon supervillains, nor
unable to reliably control his temper, nor either completely
ignorant of the facts or sitting at the bottom of a large
barrel filled with self-deception, then I think he might be
the better candidate. And that's only going by potential,
without even going into the past four years' record.

Completely apart from that: if Bush was clever when he was
22, or even when he was 40 or 50, that doesn't mean much.
People can deteriorate, you know. You can't argue that I
shouldn't go to the dentist now just because my teeth were
perfect ten years ago. And there is plenty of evidence that
Bush isn't the man he was ten years ago, or thirty.
For example, whether he's completely clean now or not, and
I'm not entirely convinced that he is, I'd like to remind
you that according to his version of the story he only
became so at age 40! It's great and admirable if he really
managed to do it (which, again, I doubt), but years of
cocaine and hard drinking really can leave permanent damage,
psychological and neurological, and I think it's showing.

A relevant article from last week's Observer:

Has Bush lost his reason?

"The prophets of doom, whom Cheney exemplifies, are
precisely right about the importance of this election. But
the momentous decision awaiting Americans is not whether
they return to power a President who is uniquely qualified
to protect the US against terrorism, as Cheney et al would
have us believe. It is whether they re-elect a man who, it
is now clear, has become palpably unstable."

Who cares about IQ? Surely it is presidential skill,
managerial powers, vision, decision making skills, drive,
determination, sensibility, emotion and adaptability that
make a good president?

P.S. The US political system is so strange.
Am I the only one who is left completely bemused by the
whole campaigning / tv things / lack of policy (other than
'terror') / and jerry springer-esque style of it all?
