Alien vs. Predator

..as some of you might know, I'm a big fan of the "Alien"
films, especially the initial film.

I just saw "Alien vs. Predator".

what a piece of utter shit.

I was expecting something pretty awful, but this just dulled
my mind.

as I just wrote in reply to someone on the IMdb boards
saying this film is "spot on":

"what is "spot on"? the hastily touched upon 'markers' from
both series (ooh quickly, thrown in a few facehuggers, oooh
we have to show at least one chestburster, oooh we need the
queen, the queen! if Anderson had been insane enough I bet
he would've loved to invent some twisted way to fit Ripley
into this story..), just used to tie in, never actually
creating any tension and/or excitement?

the storytelling is lazy and clichéed, the design is lazy
and clichéed.

I wouldn't mind so much if the total wasn't so thoroughly
boring!

this film really has no redeeming features."

fuuuuck.. :(

but, up until that point it was a fairly nicely done peice
of action eye candy. which is basically what it billed
itself as.

man it's been a while since film was such a piece of crap it
actually gets me all riled up.

there should be an arena-fight between George Lucas and Paul
Anderson. and fucking hope they kill eachother
simultaneously.

no it wasn't even that.

just absolutely boring and drawn out. with a supposedly
Italian prat explaining every shitty little detail along the
way. jeeeesus.

this "movie" failed to entertain me in even the b-movie
knows its bad kind of way i had hoped it would when i walked
in. terrible. if someone makes a movie worse than this, i'll
blow up my local theater.

I was sort of watching it, and soon as the facehugger leapt
out of the egg in slow motion I lost all faith.

If Alien: Resurrection killed the Alien franchise, this is
just desecrating the grave.

can you give an example of what you think is a fairly done
peice of action eyecandy?

or do you just not like the genre?

also, the predators were wimpy as shit, and the aliens just
looked like shit. and that thing at the end with the queen
should have been awesome but somehow made me hate the movie
even more.

Given the fact that the franchise combination was
essentially capable of providing the greatest sci fi action
thriller of all times it was a pity they allowed a cunt to
write a poorly thought out high school style script and film
it.

"predator"

it would've been shitloads better if the predators would've
just killed off the humans as soon as they flipped the
switch, then got on with battling the aliens.

boo-hoo

I do think a good action movie can be very worthwhile, but
then it still must be done well. other examples would be the
"Die Hard" films, I guess. or "Jurassic Park".

they should have set it in the future and had some kind of
badass ragtag group of marines ie. aliens or predator.
it was pure marketing, the movie was gauranteed to draw a
lot of money opening weekend no matter how bad it was, and
it didn't help that it was rated PG-13. there were more kids
there than adults when i went to see it.

i agree.

i dunno, maybe i was just in the mood for mindlessness,
cause i was fairly entertained up until the woman won over
the predator... everything that happend after that was lost
on me.

much a movie costs nowdays.

I agree mr shope...it was an enjoyable enough romp...it's
just a film that most people feel they could have done a
much better job themselves.

Yeah, it sucked, and I LOVE the art of the popcorn movie. It
was even worse than the SNES side scrolling beat 'em up.
This franchise was always a bit wobbly, other than some gems
like that Jaguar game. _____ vs ______ joint ventures are
easy to fuck up.

i was offended by men in black 2 because they just redid 1,
which was pretty original i thought. do you agree?

I downloaded this and I'm glad I did. It could've been so
fucking awesome. Just reading the comics gives you a wealth
of stuff to actually film. Why he did this stupid plot is
beyond me. I wasn't too dissapointed though as with it being
a Paul WS Anderson film I knew not to expect too much.
Still, it could've been great and instead it was barely OK.
On the plus side my girlfriends little brother (14) like it
so I suppose there's a crowd for you. I've also introduced
him to Aphex and Snares. Joy!

i liked it.. i expected something really bad. but the moive
satisfied my wishes of what it could be.

the story is consistent with the comic, and with the alien
and predator characters. so I think it was as good as it
could be.

another film based on a comic.

I didn't like MiB 1 very much, seemed like the pilot of a
televisionseries for me.

why do you think it was original?

I agree on hating MiB 2 though. that really is a piece of
uninspired wank. in fact, after I had seen it at the cinema,
I remember making a thread here saying I would never go to
see a "Hollywood blockbuster" at the cinema ever again.. if
only the search still worked..
