Saw this tonight. Beautiful film to watch and enjoyable
too. The ending dragged a smidgeon but on the whole it was
good.

Anyone else seen it and care to comment?

Yep. Put a certain film that claimed to raise the bar in
fight scenes to shame with no effort. It was so wickedly
done :D

very good film but not Yimou's best,

check out Raise the Red Lantern staring Gong Li.

Looking forward to his second martial arts film
House of Flying Daggers

enjoyable, even with the rashomon structure which sort of
drew me out of the plot.

I was so excited about it yet i ended up dissapointed.
The photography is overrated and the story could have been
told better.... as for the editing some of it look quickly
done and not very well cut...also i thought at points i was
watching an old movie yet the movie is trying to be
everything but that. 6/10 dan!

It's still ok, maybe i wasn't in a very good mood or
something!

TRAILER

one of the best examples of perfect music in the trailer, if
only Lisa Gerrard did the whole soundtrack

i agree with some of your points apart from rent it, this
film was made for the big screen

same here, also, as i downloaded it in some scenes it
freezes for a few frames, especially towards the end so that
kind of ruined it a bit for me. I'm looking forward to
seeing it on the big screen, its released here in a couple
of weeks.

we have an asian rental place nearby, this guy gets dvds
before they're out sometimes! Plus he's really nice. The
place is tiny and well hidden. Fun. :)

i saw it. i liked it but i thought it was almost too
visually stunning. like by the end, my glazballz was all
over sturated and i couldn't really tell what was stunning
anymore. and the story was a bit convoluted but i liked it
yeah!

defintaley not!

the first 30/45 minutes of it rocked, but after that, the
movie shat upon itself... it all went downhill when those
flying daggers actually appeared, and mr. Yimou tried to
twist it everywhere without the twists being necessary nor
pretty impressing.
