i've never had any real identity issues... although, a
recurring theme to me is low self-esteem.

i can really freak myself out looking in the mirror. is
that related?

my personal favorite is after leibniz and heidegger: why is
there anything instead of nothing?

Yup, getting into the mindset of "who the hell am i? what
are people?! consciousness??! WHY??!" is a recipe for
bemusement and paranoia. It's horrible.

I thought this would be a "Going for Gold" thread.

Who am I?
I was born in Antwerp in 1743......

no advantage in being able to speak the language that the
questions were spoken in

All the time, I can't figure myself out. I can't tell if I'm
a bad person, or a good person. Probably a combination of
the two. Also, once, I was sitting in a car with my mom and
grandmother, and I suddenly started thinking, ''who the fuck
are these people? Other than relatives''. I started
wondering what they were really like, because I don't think
you can tell. But that was a while ago, I guess I must have
been having a bad day.

thought about that.

to look in the mirror and see not just a person, but to see
me and become sentient of my existance is what scares me.
the context is completely different than seeing another
person in front of me. i cannot bare to look myself in the
eyes for more than 3 seconds at a maximum because i become
more aware of myself and i fear that i will unlock some very
deep, disgusting thoughts of myself as a who i am.

I think there are basically two types of people in this
world. Those who know who they are and are comfortable with
it, and those who know and aren't and so pretend they don't.

hahaha you think a ham owl can be seen by mere humans. your
brain must be confused, with confusion, for the ham owl can
only be observed by seahorses.

i was hoping this was another Lou Reed thread...

"Sometimes I wonder who am I
who made the trees, who made the sky
Who made the storms, who made heartbreak
I wonder how much life I can take
I know I like to dream a lot
and think of other worlds that are not
I hate that I need air to breathe
I'd like to leave this body and be free
I'd like to float like a mystic child
I'd like to kiss an angel on the brow
I'd love to solve the mysteries of life"

I saw Lou Reed last week, the live version of Venus in Furs
is AMAZING!!! You have to hear it, its on Animal Serenade.

in the nineties.

my former dentist was one of the contestants on there. I
