i hate them too

but so far i haven't got any CD with these (except NIN - And
All That Could Have Been, but it's not on the package
itself, just on the back cardboard with the tracklisting
which is separated from the actual thing)

hard to say really. As if parents would advise their kids to
listen to songs with swearing in anyway.

It's advertising !

It makes kids want to buy it

why "parental" advisory? as if a 45 yr old housewife was
going to buy her mother-in-law who lives in a home 2001 by
dr dre but then suddenly realised it contained the words poo
& wee, so she bought her the slayer album instead.

offline r40f from qrters tea party on 2004-08-20 11:44 [#01310249]

parental advisory labels were invented by tipper gore and
the pmrc in order to black-list music artists that they felt
were objectionable. as a result, major corporations such as
wall mart can force artists to censor and change their
albums or else they don't carry their albums, which of
course means that the artist is effectively banned from the
largest market in the country.

so it isn't advertising - it works against artists and it
represents the fact that artists in america don't have the
freedom of speech that they are guaranteed in the
constitution.

I used to laugh at Americans having to suffer these till
they came out over here. S' annoying when they're on decent
album covers and not just on the case but the booklet too.
Mind you I haven't bought an album in like two years so what
do I care.

I'd prefer it if it was explicit parental advice, like "Keep
an eye on your kids, you don't them wanking too much, do
you, you negligent cunt?"
