Wow, what a great movie... just watched this, and it was
quite intense... I had seen it before, but it was on tv with
commercial breaks, and I didn't give it my full attention...
this time I did... I'm home alone, turned off all the
lights, and damn, it was great... I sure hope the new
prequel thing doesn't suck...

Gonna listen to Tubular Bells now! :)

that's cool that you liked it, even so many years after its
release.

i thought it was way overrated. not scared at all. i've
explored Catholicism thoroughly, and i still think the whole
concept of Christ is ludicrous. the movie is really a comedy
if you're not a Catholic.

let me rephrase - the concept of Christ is real - but to
take his resurrection and the New Testament LITERALLY is
sacrilege to your mind.

yeah, i pretty much laughed at the whole thing, which was a
long time ago. maybe it would be scary if you watched it
alone.

it's really the only movie that still gets under my skin.

the 3 rd one is pretty good too.

the new ones will likely suck arse.

Some bits were creepy, a single shot scared me (the ghost of
the priest's mother on the bed), but other than that, a
great comedy!

I was only freaked by the Spider crawl down the stairs.

The spider crawl wasn't in the original. The scary thing
about the film is how this little girl had them all duped
that this religious mumbo jumbo was real.

Only because they were too pussy to show it!

Still a good film.

Weird how any random thread can have elements of an attack
on that "evil" religion Christianity.

If you researched excorcisms and possession on google you'd
see a LOT of people who claim to experience such phenomina.
But then, they might all be deluded mexicans.

Take away the inverted commas and i agree entirely with that
statement.

I've just always been fascinated with this type of stuff...
I'm not really going to come out and say whether I think
it's true or not, cause I don't know... and neither does
anyone else here, no matter how sure of themselves they try
to appear... but I still think it's a interesting and cool
thing... and it's scary to me cause I've been raised in a
religious family, going to church and all this, and have
always been taught that demons exist... so, whether they do
or not, this type of stuff will always strike a cord with
me...

but I thought it was a good movie anyways... the first time
I was left with a feeling that the effects were lame,
ruining the experience... but this time I thought the
effects looked fine... I just thought it was very good!

the movie is loosely based on a true event. about a young
boy though. and he was schizophrenic or it was a prank or
something i don't remember.

I'm not sure whether it's funny or just total, total
rubbish.

well i found a link to the supposed

true story

but it sounds like a lot of hog-wash to me.

like you could wash your hog with it.

or masturbate

I can't see what is evil about the teachings of Christ.
Perhaps someone could enlighten me.

Yes, I can see what is evil about the OLD testament. But
then again, that written by a bunch of crazy ancients. The
New Testament's teachings are wonderful, and Christians are
meant to follow Christ's teachings on love, not the insanely
weird Law of the Old Testament. Ergo, Christianity isn't
evil.

evil is a subjective adjective.

i decided to watch the exorcist again (i really do like the
concept) and was very disappointed. It wasn't scary, it
wasn't interesting and the acting was barely
tolerable..."other than that it was a great movie"

I think the movie was better when it was all grainy and bad
quality, not this remastered bull hockey.

i like the bit when the little girl pees on the floor in
front of the guests. i think that was what scared me as a
nipper when i watched it.

Yay, more Christian bashing, always fun. I liked this movie,
but it routinely tops ''scariest movies ever'' list, which
isn't true... so the first time I saw it, I was a bit
disapointed and underwhelmed. A solid horror film with a
disturbing premise, either way.

yes the peeing on floor bit is the best part of the movie i
think...not really scary though

I didn't really find it scary, just cool... in the same way
I found the x-files and stuff like that cool... I just find
this sorta thing interesting...

I thought this was one of the most dull films I'd ever seen.
It had all the atmosphere of a limp 80s disco in Norwich.
