[HAM]

What do you reckon?

I like the melody that comes in at around 49 seconds, and
the quieter portamento synth that kind of echos and alters
the theme. The electric piano sound that comes in halfway
through the track needs to cut through more for contrast.

Great sound quality and mix.

i think the percussion is very crisp and goodlike... sounds
like the synths have to be grimed up a bit to compete with
the depth of the drum track though... otherwise it's pretty
nice and such

Thanks, guys... I had to finish and mix it really quietly
because my parents are asleep upstairs and my mum keeps
banging a shoe on the floor to tell me to turn the bloody
racket down.

very nice track - i like it a lot. the synths sound kind of
like aphex twin...

excellent. Reminds me of the haunted level of pocky and
rocky and also of plone. But those are only handy references
since it is quite unique after playing awhile. The sound
quality is nice and arrangement is in a semi simple depth of
scale that doesn't demand too much from the listener which
is nice. It proceeds at the normal pace of human thought or
something rather than otto von schirach or something.

I just listened to it 3 times in a row, so yeah, it's good.
On one hand, nothing is concealed in secret "idm wizardry",
like all the constituent parts are understandable, but on
the other I can't friggin make stuff like this.

The percussion is nice and clean but I'm not too crazy about
the synths and sounds you use. The melody is good but it
would sound a lot better with something different. I don't
want to be offensive and I hope you can take criticism but I
think the main sounds, sound a bit cheezy. Hate me,
I'm sorry :(

No need to apologise! It is a 'cheesy' sound, but I like it.
Thanks for listening.

i liked it, maybe not as much as some other hf tracks.

roygbivcore wins the "most gratuitous use of a 'shut up
little man' sample" award hands down...

I would, but first, why do you call it ham in the thread and
name the mp3 hat? Are you trying to pull a fast one on me
boy?

offline horsefactory from 💠 (United Kingdom) on 2004-07-29 08:04 [#01289608]

Hi Jocco! I used "HAM" instead of "spam". The track title
just happens to be "hat" or something, I don't know.

Fair enough.... I will check it out, but be warned: I will
likely have absolutely nothing worthwhile to say about the
track... Actually it's not so bad when you consider my usual
additions to this fine messageboard.

I like it greatly, it reminds me of "Melodies from Mars" but
quite a bit better.

Ok, I dig it.

Actually I really don't have much else to say... It has a
cheezy synth, but yet I dig it in this song... I will
further investigate the reason for this at a later time.
Fleetmouse might be right about the EP chords, and the maybe
the percussion could be a little louder, but I always sucked
at mixing, so you may be best off ignoring this. You keep
things interesting and progressing nicely all the way
through despite the few sounds used. It was good. That is
all.

Actually scratch that percussion being louder; it works
where it is..... told ya I sucked at mixing.

This track is once again excellent. Your melodical work is
excellent with a touch of nostalgia in the synth work.
Really really good. I love it.

This, good sir, is The Wickeds. That "i" mp3 i have that
appears to be a kind of demo for this is also very
excellent. There's a nice rumpshaking herbert-esque funk to
the beats-only intro, and then the melody keeps building
until there's a whole new level. Lovely stuff.
