good pop songs

i'd like to check some good pop songs, but i kind of lost
touch with pop lately...haven't been listening to radio in a
long time, and i don't have MTV :(

so i was thinking something like n.e.r.d., kelis...

i'd be nice if everyone (well, those of you who will reply
heh) could state their favourite pop song (don't wan't to
check whole albums, coz it would take to much time, and
usually there are like two or three decent songs and
everything else is crap)

thank you :)

kelis' "trick me" has that great moment when the beat drops
in. but then about halfway through the song the whole thing
just becomes plainly boring.

not really pop in the Top 40 sense of the word, but
guitarry, from Interpol's not yet released album "Antics"
the second track, "evil".

I really like it. you might too.

I have an unhealthy penchant for justin timberlake -
senorita. That would definitely count as pop.

On the more retro-guitar side of pop, you should check out
"wake up boo" by the boo radleys. It has the most
bittersweet but euphoric feeling, one of my old faves.

does in have to be new? Nothing in the charts these days is
any good.

B52's - Rock Lobster is a class pop song (remember love
shack?)

You'd probably like some Delerium tracks, their best album
is Karma.

Goldfrapp - Strict Machine is the best recent pop song i've
heard.

The Roots - Don't Say Nuthin'
Twista has some cool stuff going on...
That weird Air song that sounds like the last pop-ish
Xploding Plastix song, but Air actually does it better, just
because it's not what you'd expect from xploding, but you'd
expect it from air.
Sugababes!!! KEISHA!

(I'm assuming you're not talking about the genre pop, but
the term "popular music," which referrs to everything that
is popular and is being played on a regular basis on mtv and
other pop-things)

offline polygon_ring from somewhere else on 2004-07-27 05:04 [#01287348]

yes, sugababes have some interesting songs. i'd recommend
"freak like me".

yeah, i could have said "popular music" in the first place
:)

i've got sugababes btw, they're awesome. roots are pretty
great as well, though not quite what im loking for..

yes.. pop is a huge genre, but it is divided into subgenres
like pop-rock and hip-pop, and so-on... things like Dave
Matthews, Sondre Lerche, Madonna and Britney.. you get the
drift...

Haiducii - Dragonstea Din Tei really is the best summer hit
ever !
i thought it was some 80's like gay man singing but i just
saw it's this blond babe, that's a bit of a letdown, but the
song still is such a cheerfull house track :D
