..has written some of the best songs ever.

all of the Brecht songs like "Mackie Messer", even the later
musical-period in America.

put that in your pipe and smoke it. except you, Monoid.

1930's kind of vaudeville, but much better. pretty weird
stuff. perfectly hummable, but kind of uneasy.

it does indeed. have you ever heard an original recording of
Bertold Brecht himself singing it? a tiny, high voice. very
strange.

you should. he made a few music-theatre pieces with Brecht
in the 30s and 40s, "the threepennyopera" (or originally
"Der Dreigroschenoper") being the most famous (and
excellent).

he then fled during WWII to America and there he made a few
musicals, which are a lot fluffier, but still good.

there are MANY versions of the Dreigroschenoper, in the
original version and in English.

they range from original recordings from the 30s (which are
quaint, but kind of stiff) to modern versions with for
example Nina Hagen and the Ensemble Modern (which is one of
the best current modern musical people-things-stuff).

My only experience with Kurt Weill is through a Young Gods
album called ''Young Gods Play Kurt Weill''. And it is quite
an experience.

What kind of Weill shit should I look out for? Albums/comps
like.
