I don't know if I get the exact meaning of the title, but I
believe mr devine is much much better compared to venetian
snares.

Check his split single with phantomsmasher. At last some
depth in his music. He actually only remixes there

i'm surprised there's been no mention of the disturbing
pedophiliac fantasy artwork for "horse and goat." don't
let yer mom catch you with it...

pedophiliac?

its just art, lets not get scared for every fucking vagina

offline plaidzebra from so long, xlt on 2004-06-27 17:27 [#01258098]

a prepubescent girl with a lollipop in her mouth and a
lollipop in her hairless vagina with a large phallus
ejaculating before her *is* pedophiliac, whether you like it
or not.

i'm not saying it's good art or bad art, or whether it's art
at all.

i also am not offended. i do, however, appreciate that it's
a genuinely controversial image, and thought it seemed
likely to generate comments.

next you'll be trying to tell me that the pink banana on the
velvet underground's album wasn't a sexual reference.

paedophilia is a crime

this artwork is art... and totally far from being a crime

its a radical image, ok... but paedophilia is a crime
consisting on having sex with a child... I see nobody having
sex with a child here...

offline plaidzebra from so long, xlt on 2004-06-27 17:50 [#01258126]
Points: 5678 Status: Lurker

sheesh, what a sad semantic argument. i said it was a
pedophiliac fantasy, i never said it depicted sex with a
child. in my second post, when i said it was a pedophiliac
image, i meant that it was an image that represented a
prepubescent girl in a radically sexualized image.

you are wrong about pedophilia, however. pedophilia is the
sexual attraction to children, and is not a crime in and of
itself. of course, the reason that pedophilia is
controversial is the frequency with which pedophiliacs act
upon their desires.

in some countries, this image would be criminal (not that i
necessarily agree with that criminality).

whether it is art or not is not the issue.

you venetian snares fans are so sensitive (apparently from
all the criticism aaron gets) : D

this doesnt have anything to do with me liking vsnares

I have books of art in my room with more radical paintings
than that

art is art... and I am tired and bored of puritan minds

acording to your definition of paedophilia I still see no
paedophilia in this painting sorry

I love snares abut think that most of Trevor Brown's artwork
is fulfilling paedophilic fantasies. Why do you think he
lives in Japan? Because he is wanted by police in UK. Those
images are not acceptable in a society where some men are
doing their best not to abuse little girls.

offline plaidzebra from so long, xlt on 2004-06-28 06:59 [#01258518]

nacmat, maybe you should contain your criticism until you
are in the presence of a puritan mind.

in my perception, and i only remark because i think it is an
interesting observation, you are exhibiting an astonishing
case of denial.

i certainly would be interested to hear your thoughts on
what ideas *are* put forth by this painting, what the artist
is articulating...

offline uzim on 2004-06-28 07:36 [#01258534]

is it me or are you just playing on words here... = /

it is controversial, it does feature a girl
with hairless vagina showing and surrounded by phallus and
phallic symbols in a childish atmosphere - it is full
of (childhood + sexual) symbols combined. i don't think you
can deny that.

by the way, could you get the alien force... cd eventually
nacmat? : )

i think the huge chrome cylinder box unfolding artwork is beautiful, looks a lot
like a draft 7.30-ripoff but still pretty nice.

I dig the artwork...
I think most of mr Brown's artwork is scary.

where does that "paedophile heaven" link go? I'm at school
so I can't check.

"trevor brown is on the sex offenders list here in england
and can never move back"

does that mean that he's done something (except paint?)

for venetian snares as well as for trevor brown, and lots of
other stuff like this (merzbow...), i suspect a lot of the
fans to like it just because it's
"extreme"/controversial...

uzim> yeah... I guess some people are like that..

what I was thinking about the other day is how people would
react if they'd catch me with some artwork of Trevor Brown
(even if it was just a CD-cover). Just like nacmat, I'm not
saying he's the most controversial artist, but his art is
really controversial (with all the childmolesting-crimes
going on, and most people not being very open about "art").
How would they react? At the moment I haven't got anything
of his, but that might change any day.

not being very open about "art"

> we could enter a whole debate about this, what can be
considered art or not, when perversion and pornography can
be considered as art, if commercial jingles, a child's
scribbles and drawings, etc. can be considered as art, how
far can people go with "this is art, not
[peadophilia/pornography/misogynism/nazi propaganda or
whatever]" as an "excuse" (?)...

"we could enter a whole debate about this, what can be
considered art or not"

that's not what I wanted to do... and that's why I wrote art
like "art".
What I meant is more like why people would assume that I
liked the art(work of TB). And if something is far away from
normal "art" then most people don't care enough or want to
get into it (atleast that's the case with music, [and with
movies] so I assume it's the same with paintings).

you have your opinion, and I have mine

I just want to leave clear that this has nothing to do with
the fact that I like the music aaron makes.
you have induced that I am some kind of blind fanboy... and
I tell you I am not... but yes I like his music.

and about the artwork, I am sorry to have my opinion, its
just htat I see no crime in it, nor I see paedophilia
there..., as I dont think the artist is trying to describe
the sexual attraction towards children, he is just playing
with elements, and yes, in a radical way

i don't think you're a fanboy...you like his music a lot,
but i doubt that alone makes you a fanboy...not that i have
problems with fanboys or something...everyone is free to do
what they like.

a classic fanboy/fangirl as i imagine it is a pimply human,
with his room full of posters of his favourite msucian, a
collection of every single release, with a book full of
newspaper articles, photos,...

so, are you a fanboy? :)
