a prepubescent girl with a lollipop in her mouth and a lollipop in her hairless vagina with a large phallus ejaculating before her *is* pedophiliac, whether you like it or not.
i'm not saying it's good art or bad art, or whether it's art at all.
i also am not offended. i do, however, appreciate that it's a genuinely controversial image, and thought it seemed likely to generate comments.
next you'll be trying to tell me that the pink banana on the velvet underground's album wasn't a sexual reference.

paedophilia is a crime
this artwork is art... and totally far from being a crime
its a radical image, ok... but paedophilia is a crime consisting on having sex with a child... I see nobody having sex with a child here...

sheesh, what a sad semantic argument. i said it was a pedophiliac fantasy, i never said it depicted sex with a child. in my second post, when i said it was a pedophiliac image, i meant that it was an image that represented a prepubescent girl in a radically sexualized image.
you are wrong about pedophilia, however. pedophilia is the sexual attraction to children, and is not a crime in and of itself. of course, the reason that pedophilia is controversial is the frequency with which pedophiliacs act upon their desires.
in some countries, this image would be criminal (not that i necessarily agree with that criminality).
whether it is art or not is not the issue.
you venetian snares fans are so sensitive (apparently from all the criticism aaron gets) : D

I love snares abut think that most of Trevor Brown's artwork is fulfilling paedophilic fantasies. Why do you think he lives in Japan? Because he is wanted by police in UK. Those images are not acceptable in a society where some men are doing their best not to abuse little girls.

nacmat, maybe you should contain your criticism until you are in the presence of a puritan mind.
in my perception, and i only remark because i think it is an interesting observation, you are exhibiting an astonishing case of denial.
i certainly would be interested to hear your thoughts on what ideas *are* put forth by this painting, what the artist is articulating...

is it me or are you just playing on words here... = /
it is controversial, it does feature a girl with hairless vagina showing and surrounded by phallus and phallic symbols in a childish atmosphere - it is full of (childhood + sexual) symbols combined. i don't think you can deny that.
by the way, could you get the alien force... cd eventually nacmat? : )
i think the huge chrome cylinder box unfolding artwork is beautiful, looks a lot like a draft 7.30-ripoff but still pretty nice.

uzim> yeah... I guess some people are like that..
what I was thinking about the other day is how people would react if they'd catch me with some artwork of Trevor Brown (even if it was just a CD-cover). Just like nacmat, I'm not saying he's the most controversial artist, but his art is really controversial (with all the childmolesting-crimes going on, and most people not being very open about "art").
How would they react? At the moment I haven't got anything of his, but that might change any day.

not being very open about "art"
> we could enter a whole debate about this, what can be considered art or not, when perversion and pornography can be considered as art, if commercial jingles, a child's scribbles and drawings, etc. can be considered as art, how far can people go with "this is art, not [peadophilia/pornography/misogynism/nazi propaganda or whatever]" as an "excuse" (?)...

"we could enter a whole debate about this, what can be considered art or not"
that's not what I wanted to do... and that's why I wrote art like "art".
What I meant is more like why people would assume that I liked the art(work of TB). And if something is far away from normal "art" then most people don't care enough or want to get into it (atleast that's the case with music, [and with movies] so I assume it's the same with paintings).

I just want to leave clear that this has nothing to do with the fact that I like the music aaron makes.
you have induced that I am some kind of blind fanboy... and I tell you I am not... but yes I like his music.
and about the artwork, I am sorry to have my opinion, its just htat I see no crime in it, nor I see paedophilia there..., as I dont think the artist is trying to describe the sexual attraction towards children, he is just playing with elements, and yes, in a radical way
