Worth it. I got one a couple of months ago and it is fucking
awesome. Trust me, if you can afford it and are thinking
about it then do it.

They are nice. I cant imagine *not* having it now, so I
guess that makes it good, although at times when I have been
in the house for days with it on the shelf it seems a bit
expensive. But when I am busy it is almighty :p

I will get one if my sony MZN1 minidisc player cannot be
fixed. Its broken right now, but it fucking rules. Plus I
can do field recordings with it, wire my mixer into it for
recording, etc.

That's the one downside to the iPod!!! I so wish it could do
that. Its such a shame that lesser players can but this
can't.

Just get the Creative Jukebox. You can get twice the memory
(i.e. 60GB) with a Creative Jukebox for the price of an iPod
with half the memory (i.e. 30GB). I am fan of Creative
products and probably always will be, but an iPod is an iPod
and I guess that just makes them more desirable.

Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen NX, Xtra 60GB USB2.0, Retail

sexiness, it flawed my judgement somewhat.

That's a nice price for a 60gig player but where does it
stand compared to iPod? Is the sound quality better or worse
or has it got something that should have been done better or
what? It looks really good and I just might buy one this
summer.

I also can't even imagine life without my iPod. It goes
everywhere. I have all my contacts/calenders etc on it.
Comes in handy. Plus having all your music in one place is
so worth the big pricetag.

The only reason I'm not all that happy with the price is
that as soon as the next version come out I'll definitely
want one. The 4th gen iPods are supposed to have a color lcd
and tv out. You'll be able to store all your photos from
iPhoto and show them on a TV. I also hope they include some
kind of mic in for audio recording.

I has a pretty good EQ. It will eat up the battery faster
thoough. I've never had to use it. I'm 3/4 full on my 20g
model. Have all my cds on there, a little over 1800 songs.

I got the fucking "exclamation folder" of death last night.
iPod is completely busted and now I have to go through all
the shit to send it back in to apple and hope that they'll
replace it. It's under warranty till June 10th, but because
they're so slow at everything, I bought the extended
warranty thing today. All in all, it looks like repairs are
going to cost me about $150 :(

and their website keeps giving me a "sorry" message when I
try to request a repair. Very annoying.

The negative thing about the Ipod, is the ridiculous battery
time. 8hrs is not enough. If YOU have owned an Ipod for some
time now, have there been any decrease in playing time?

one this week and I was already dithering, that doesn't
help.

I heard that there's no random play function on the iPod?

i love random play functions

i'd love a random "mix" function too - where some funky
software intelligently pitch shifts tracks to match each
other.

Aaaand... that just sealed it. I kept meaning to ask someone
if there was a random feature - if there definitely isn't
that's half the reason me buying one out the fucking window.

The battery lets it down big time. I bought mine 1 1/2 years
ago and after a year the playing time was reduced to 4 hrs.
At the same time it started to behave strangely and would
not mount on my mac. I got it replaced by a new one cause i
had two days left on the warranty (lucky me). But since the
new ones are shipped with better batteries i cannot tell how
it is now. But you can buy new batteries if that is needed.

In general I think the iPod i well 'ard. I use it mainly as
a backup disk and roadtest my new tracks. Also it is perfect
for vacations when you don't want to drag a bag full of
cd's. I bought this iTrip thingy that lets you transmit to a
radio, and that must be the coolest accesory for iPod ever.

And it is so beautiful.
