does aphex have a song where his face can be seen in the
spectrum-visualization-thingie, or is this pure bullshit?

no to it being pure bullshit or no to him having a track
where his face can be seen?

No, it's true, the song is the third track from the
windowlicker ep.

offline JAroen from the pineal gland on 2004-04-20 05:03 [#01151770]

yes it does, once in 'equation', and once in 'bonus hi freq
sounds'

youll need fourier analysis for equation, and a
radio-television modulation decoder or somethiing for the hi
freq sounds

It is true. It is in the "equation" track on windolicker.
You need a spectral analyser to see it.

can I get those as something for winamp or do I need a

uhm, the thing in hi frequency sounds [MEN1?] is actually
richard and tom? and some incoherent babble

just search for spectrograph software, there's some
shareware out there on the world-wide-webternet

also, when you scan make sure the frequency is on a
logarithmic scale, or else his face will be smushed

the last track 'look' on venetian snares- songs about my
cats, has a bunch of kitties in the sound too.
I know I posted those, I saw them a couple times when I was
looking through random attachments on here.

there's even some freeware software to encode your own
images to sound.

these things are not something that is done with such
frequencies that it goes away in mp3, is it (I've never
bought the windowlicker-ep.. I've never had money
before...)?

I heard a rumour that promo was straight.

There's a couple of BoC tracks that have these things in
them. It's quite fun. I did a remix for a mates band and put
a picture in the end of it of the band.

I keep meaning to put tubgirl in a song. I wonder how clear
you could make it.....

how do you put it in the song? doesn't it make lots of
noise?

offline mappatazee from ¨y¨z¨| (Burkina Faso) on 2004-04-20 05:39 [#01151811]
Points: 14294 Status: Lurker | Followup to Drunken Mastah: #01151807

sounds like metallic wavey washy noise.

to see them from an mp3, you just have to convert it into a
wav file.

the only thing with that is you may lose some of the lower
and upper frequencies with the mp3, though it should be fine
with the richard face

offline Drunken Mastah from OPPERKLASSESVIN!!! (Norway) on 2004-04-20 05:41 [#01151812]
Points: 35867 Status: Lurker | Followup to mappatazee: #01151811 | Show recordbag

eh..? if the frequencies are lost when converted to mp3,
they can't be restored by converting to wav... or do you
mean that the programs most likely doesn't take mp3s and it
has to be a wave?

offline mappatazee from ¨y¨z¨| (Burkina Faso) on 2004-04-20 05:45 [#01151814]
Points: 14294 Status: Lurker | Followup to Drunken Mastah: #01151812

One of the ways mp3 is compressed is by eliminating extreme
upper and lower frequencies, the ones that are beyond the
range of hearing, but are nevertheless present on CD and
analog quality sound.

It seems pretty cpu intensive to make the image from the wav
file, not to mention decoding the mp3 and creating an image
from that.
I don't know of any spectrogram that can produce images
from the mp3 file.

Points: 35867 Status: Lurker | Followup to mappatazee: #01151814 | Show recordbag

yeah, I know about the frequency-reduction in mp3s and
that's why I asked if these images are made up of
frequencies that exceed mp3-range, and therefore will be..
not present if I download some mp3 to check for the image...

As for the Bonus High Frequency sounds image: That's encoded
a different way (I forget how). There's a plug-in for winamp
that can decode it.

I just found out how to do a spectrum visual with Winamp.

Start up a new blank visual thing with the AVS editor. Then
click the 'plus' sign and add a 'render' called
'timescope'.

It is kind of dim and upside-down. Also you can't change it
to a logrithmic scale. There may be ways to change these
things, but I can't seem to figure it out.
