radiohead is offering cell-phone ring tones for sale at
their official store.

i'm not usually one to complain about artistic integrity
etc.

I liked the plan they had with the two singles that came out
after hail to the thief. Each one cost $15 and had 4 tracks.
The sneaky part is that being singles, each disc had one
track from the album, so right off the bat that leaves only
3 unreleased tracks on each. Secondly, only two of those 6
available tracks was worth listening to. Lastly, those two
good tracks weren't on the same disc so you had to buy both
if you wanted to legitimately own them. $30 plus 14.5% tax
(in BC) for two good tracks. Go Radiohead!!!

radiohead pretty much = boring crap for money.

offline kc from Vancouver (Canada) on 2004-04-20 03:07 [#01151696]

Oh shit, I messed that up.

Go To Sleep discs 1 and 2 both only have 3 tracks. The
single Go To Sleep is on both, so if you own the album as
well, you've paid for that song three times. Each disc has
one other good song and one bad song.

So:
You get go to sleep twice, which was one of the most boring
songs from that album.
You get two bad songs
You get two good songs, but on different discs you can't cut
any corners or anything. And you still have to pay $30 for
the deuce.

wow. That's not very nice of them.

Not that I don't love Radiohead, I do. But fuck guys, stop
pretending you're Apple. Do you really need to charge the
same price as most full albums cost for a fucking single?

I only asked since when, not why :-p

Anyway, the store where I bought them was selling both those
singles together for the price of one.

And I hardly think Radiohead purposely wants to release bad
songs. I'm sure they themselves think everything they put
out is interesting enough to be heard by the world. The fact
that you didn't like 2 songs doesn't mean they are
bad.

Yeah. Apple releases quality stuff, but they know they're
the only people you can get it from so they charge whatever
the hell they want for it. I love my iPod so much but I
still can't believe I paid $700 CAD for it.
