i got a gamecube

i was at the video game shoppe yesterday, and i sadly
realized that although xbox is the superior console in every
way shape and form except portability, it still has a
limited selection of games.

the only solution was to pick up a new console. ps2 is out
of the question because it's graphics hurt my eyes after so
much xbox usage. also, the only reason to own a ps2 is if
you 1) are a squaresoft fanboy, or 2) can't wait the few
months until rockstar's games get their graphics engines
reworked and released on other consoles and pc.

thus, i was left with gamecube. it has a large library of
new games to check out (i LOVE playing new games). i picked
up the sonic adventure games because i wanted to compare
them to sonic heroes, and i picked up Twin Snakes
because...you know...MGS is better than everything.

my initial reactions:
size: it's about 1/5 the size of my xbox. and light as
hell. portability++

awww, :( memory cards: memory cards are gay. it takes too
long to load and save off them, and they're not 80 gigs
large like my xbox hard drive, allowing me to rip music and
put it in games.

graphics: the graphics are just about as good as xbox's,
and just like xbox, light years ahead of ps2 graphics.

cotnroller: seriously, this is about as awkward as that
3-handle n64 bullshit. why have 2 shoulder buttons on one
side and 1 on the other? however, the analog sticks are
nice and responsive and have good resistance, much like
those on xbox. it would be better if they had rubber grips,
but it's more than tolerable. it's easy to get used to the
controller, but it just looks REALLY gay. it's like a ps2
and SNES controller had an abortion together.

so all in all, it's a good console from what i've seen, that
shares a few flaws with the ps2, but nothing that should get
in the way of fun. i got it so i would have some new games
to play, so recommend the absolute best gamecube games for
me to play. i'm most likely going to pick up metroid prime
next, as i love first person shoote

I knew you'd eventually come around and see the light.

But seriously I have no idea what you are talking about with
memory cards. I have never once seen any of my GC games take
longer than 2 seconds to save..... is that really such an
unbearable wait?

IT IS SAID that the controller for the GameCube is the best
controller by far. IT IS SAID it holds perfectly in your
hand. I AGREE.

I love my Gamecube, I love the games. I love my purple
color. What color did you get??

Orange.. :)

the gamecube controller is an abomination, what the hell are
you guys talking about? that's almost PURELY the reason i
don't own one. they're obnoxious and awkward as hell.

anyways, wes, i'd suggest doing two things: buying final
fantasy chronicles (although you need a GBA, too, but hey.
they're lotsa fun, so why not?), and rigging up your
gamecube to run off of your PC. you can download games to PC
and just run a network cable between them. it's super-duper.
you could even get naruto (a really cool fighting game based
on the anime/manga that will sadly never be realeased in the
u.s. for whatever reason. probably because they're all
retarded McMongoloid-os. and stuff). we played FF chronicles
like that about 3 months before it came out over here. it
was all in japanese and took forever to figure out but it
was fun.

Then you must have super fat hands because IT IS SAID its
the most comfortable controller compared to XBOX huge
controller, and playstations confusing and somewhat big
controller. The gamecube controller is easy to use-Nintendo
has always made there controller simple.

Monkey ball 2 is better than the first one. I think for a
real fun game with friends that you can link them up. Just
like monkey ball, but there is no waiting, its everyone at
the sametime. MARIO KART. ohhh man this game is so much fun.
I have it for my gameboy, and still that shit is fun.

ewwww, i hated mariokart double dash... I got it from ebay
and resold it in the same week.. seriously the handling is
ridiculously gay in that game, the cars all suck, and the
courses are lame and uninspired. I was soo completely let
down and disappointed, as I expected big things from this
game. MarioKart 64 is where it's at, son.

fun.
The cars are fucking rad. I love the mushroom kids they dip.
It's fun, you can knock that game.

haha I must agree with Uzim with that gay word. Just say its
lame or something brotha :>

the new one is definately NOT just like mariokart 64.. I'm
telling you for a fact that the handling is completely
different and DD handles nothing like 64 (it had only been
like 2 months since I played MK64 when I got DD, so the
handling was fresh in mind).

The tracks... were seriously so boring. Most were either
oval, or bent oval in shape. After playing them all once,
the layout was so frustrating and boring that I had no
ambition to play them again.

oh, and about the gay thing, as far as I'm concerned, 'gay'
meant 'happy' before it meant 'homosexual,' so therefore it
can mean whatever the fuck I want it to mean. :D

actually i was referring to the ps-jew's save & load time

the gc's memory cards yet. do you know how big they are
megabytes-wise?

stop using "gay" all the time as a depreciative

only faggots are offended by the word gay.

compared to XBOX huge controller

LOL XBXO SI HUEG. i have no problem with the original xbox
controller, but i only own the S-model, since that's what's
been sold with xbox's for the past 2 years and the only one
you can buy in stores.
the gamecube controller fits perfectly in your hands if you
crippled them in a horrible meat grinding accident. ps2's
analog sticks make me want to vomit, but the rest of their
controller is good. xbox's trigger buttons are the ultimate
awesome, combined with the most comfortable analog sticks
with the best resistance, xbox wins.

I only had a GENESIS. I wasnt blessed to upgrade. but my
GENESIS did me good :)

genesis was and still is the best thing ever.

i like the gamebox controller...

I have a silver GC. The main reasons I it over the other
systems is:

The Graphics are almost identical to Xbox. Arguing the Xbox
ones are better is almost laughable and I'm sure 90% of
people wouldn't be able to guess which is which in a blind
test.

The only "must have" PS2 game of the time, was Vice City. I
have the vastly superior PC version.

The Xbox has no "must have" exclusive games IMO, apart from
Project Gotham. I have MSR on DC (the prequel) and it's not
different enough to warrant buying a new system for.

PS2 is gash, I'm sorry. It isn't even as good as the DC
graphically and the DVD drive is hardly a plus point. I have
a DVD player for DVDs...

The GC controller is far and away the best of the current
crop of consoles. No two ways about it. The only "flaw" is
the Z button. But... the Z button is actually perfect- it's
the games developers who cock it up. The Z button is hard to
press and intentionally so, it should be half way between a
start button and say, the Y button in terms of amount used.
Almost like Select on the Nes. Ideal for say, cycling
weapons, using a smartbomb or changing viewpoint etc. and
not so easy to press that you press it by accident. Sadly,
games designers who lack any sort of sense assign it to
"essential", frequently used controls, almost as if it were
an A/B button.

It has more exclusive must have games than the other two
systems: Metroid, F-Zero GX, Mario Kart, Super Monkey Ball 1
& 2.

In a lot of games that come out on all systems, the GC
version is better: SC2, Splinter Cell, etc.

People who write Nintendo off as "Kiddy" based on the
graphics of some titles are about as sophisticated in their
taste as people who think trashy B movies are "good cinema"
(as opposed to simple entertainment), who write IDM off as
"noise".

I know, sometimes I 'm genuinely suprised by the sort of
things that influence peoples decisions on what are very
expensive items?

Me: So, um, why did you buy x?
(thinks to self, good Lord, y is so much better and
cheaper)

Friend: I couldn't be bothered looking at other ones on the
internet, this was the first one that came up.
or,
Friend: I'd of had to wait two days for the other one, they
had this one in store.
or,
Friend: I liked the case.
or,
Friend: It's more expensive, so it must be better than y.
or,
Friend: I dunno, I just made a snap decision.

Fair enough, it's their money, but some people's choices in
hi-fi/computers/cars/whatever is just retarded.

you're not backing that up with anything. name the game
with the BEST graphics for gamecube. i will go play it and
see how it compares to games like Otogi and Ninja Gaiden and
give you my take.

The only "must have" PS2 game of the time, was Vice City.
I have the vastly superior PC version.

the xbox version is the same as the pc version, only you use
the controller triggers to accellerate/reverse, which i love
because of the amount of control you get with their spans.
i won all the street races first try. :D

The Xbox has no "must have" exclusive games IMO.

i disagree. otogi, ninja gaiden, halo, panzer dragoon orta,
etc. also, your average person can't spend $1200 USD on a
top of the line computer, so xbox is the only console that
can run the pc ports like deus ex 2, morrowind, unreal 2,
unreal championship (which is 2k3 with a different name),
sodier of fortune 2 and future titles like doom 3 and half
life 2. xbox is the best console for FPS's.

additionally, xbox often has the best version of
multi-platform (PC not included) games like the suffering,
max payne 2, and vice city.

It has more exclusive must have games than the other two
systems: Metroid, F-Zero GX, Mario Kart, Super Monkey Ball 1
& 2.

that's not really that many.

In a lot of games that come out on all systems, the GC
version is better: SC2, Splinter Cell

that's because that, like metal gear solid, arrived on
gamecube very last, so it had the most additional things, as
they add more and more shit onto games like that every time
they port them to a new system.
