also loading your own music from the xbox hard drive into
vice city is alot better than listening to
GAY 80's music.

EDUCATE THE MASSES!!! understand?

Perhaps.....but lets face it, XBOX was a failure....within a
matter of weeks the price was slashed by 50%.

Even Sony postponed to the launch of PS3 by a further 12
months, because they knew they'd cash in on the sales
against the XBOX

To many, it also has the stigma of being made by Microsoft,
and that will put many people off it as well.

PS2 is only cashing in on anything because Sony got their
system out first, and therefore has the largest following,
not to mention they have the money to PAY OFF game companies
so that they will only release games for their system,
something which I feel should be TOTALLY ILLEGAL.

PS2's graphics are godawful (with a few RARE excepetions),
and in my HONEST opinion I feel that that system is
more a failure than xbox is. Money isn't everything.

the problem is that sony has a stranglehold with all the
exclusivity contracts they have with a shitload of good game
developers. if everyone were allowed to make games across
the whole market for all systems, it wouldn't really matter
anymore.

each console is sort of geared towards genres if you look at
it. PS2 is geared more towards single player rpgs. xbox is
more for first person shooters and all around violent stuff.
gc is more for party games and good multiplayer stuff.

I am basing it on the games that are out on both systems,
for example SSX Tricky, Soul Calibur 2. How else can you
make a direct comparison? The only game I can think of where
the Xbox version is noticeably better, graphically, is
Splinter Cell. That is offset by: a) More/better plot in the
GC version.
b) Link up to GBA (far from gimmicky as it is in some games-
you can keep the radar on the GBA Screen, works
fantastically well).

With regard to VC, when I bought it (whihc I did
state in my inital post...) it wasn't out on the xbox. Also,
the Xbox version is not the same. On my comparatively
old machine the graphics etc. are roughly the same (although
my res is a lot higher). However, I can mod mine to bits,
new cars, player skins etc. Also, on a high end PC it is
far better than the xbox version. I don't think the
xbox supports 2048*1536 resolution now, does it?

The control system on the PC version is widely (and
correctly) acknowledged as being far superior. Try playing
the foot bits with mouse and keyboard and the driving bits
with a pad (maybe a MS sidewinder, that is V. similar to
xbox pad?)...

On the subject of controls, PC versions of FPS are far
superior. I'm sorry, but playing a FPS with a controller
compared to a mouse & keyboard is a total joke. Ports of
console FPSs (Red Faction, Turok etc) to the PC are
notoriously easy? Why, because PC gamers are uber-1337? No,
simply because the console versions are made harder by their
inadequate controls. Don't believe me? Try Playing Quake 3
on the DC using a Pad against someone (even a very mediocre
player) using a mouse and keyboard. You will be utterly
slaughtered, no matter how good you are. A good analogy
would be entering a stock car race in a road car. Doesn't
matter how good a driver you are, if your equipment is that
much inferior, you don't stand a chance.

RE: Games, Halo is pretty weak IMO. Also, isn't it due out
(or already out) on PC?

True, I might buy an Xbox one day... I can never see myself
buying a PS2. Hopefully SC2 signals the beginning of the end
of Namco's pact with sony.

PS2s graphics are diabolical... compare games that are on DC
and PS2; Rez, Crazy Taxi, etc. The PS2 ones are (very
noticeably) worse in every case. How old is the DC? Seven
years now?

you have a thorough point and I agree with all of that, but
Kochlear wasn't even attacking PC games. He simply said that
the xbox is a good alternative for people who cant afford a
3000 dollar PC system and then 500 dollars of games. It is
(or atleast WAS before the newest generation of PC video
cards) comparable in graphics, and a lot of games that
appear on PC are ported to xbox (and vice versa). This gives
many people an opportunity to play a market of games they
would have otherwise missed out on.

Oh, and Halo has been out for quite some time on PC. It has
better graphics, but I wouldn't call it an overall
improvement, since it was streamlined/perfected so poorly
that it lags terribly even on high end systems.

yep, DC did mostly everything a PS2 can do now, and it was
on the market years before. I'm starting to wish Sega had
put Sony out of business, not the other way around.

You only say you'll buy an XBOX since I mentioned that I'd
get one if Outrun2 only comes out on XBOX. Hehehehe

I gotta have that game! :D

Gamecube pad-definately opinion and takes time to get used
too,I love it though, you quickly realise that "Metroid
prime" and "wind waker" were made for the pad, perfect
controls.
Recommended games then-Ikaruga,monkey ball 2,-Have you SEEN
the Resi evil 4 trailer yet?OMG-gamecube only,I love
resident evil and the remake and zero were the main reasons
I initially bought mine, for fans they are outstanding.Cube
has the best soul calibur 2(IMO), and eternal darkness has a
story line to blow you away.Top console.

I hardly ever play Gamecube, the third party support is poor

and getting poorer Games meant for all three systems, like
The Suffering, got the hook from the GC end. Xbox has
superior versions of any game the two consoles share
(Splinter Cell was maimed), and PS2 has way more high
quality developers pouring their energy into it. It's nice
to see RE4 being GC only, though... they freakin' need a
game like that to contend with Halo and MGS3 and Gran
Turismo and Grand Theft Auto and Ninja Gaiden and Final
Fantasy and Killzone and Doom and Half Life and SOCOM and
Silent Hill.

Nintendo is still the best game developer, in my mind.
Gamecube is a must have because their exclusives are
peerless. They're out of touch on the business and
marketing ends, but their games never fail to delight me.

Someday they'll go the way of Sega, if they're not careful.
Third party only. Maybe that would do them good... what the
fuck is this DS shit? Idiotic. Sony is going to crush them
with the PSP.

For GC, other than the usual suspects (Zelda/Metroid/Mario),
I recommend Star Fox Adventures. It's a horrible Star Fox
game, but a fun and beautiful adventure game. Underrated and
misunderstood.

there's bugger all available for the GC though, the
controllers are really clumpy and awkward to hold and you
get bored shitless of playing the GC games after about a
week

I love my PS2, it's silver and rockin' Bo)
