Great cd, I love the first track. Luke Vibert spun track #1
during his set when he toured with squarepusher last summer,
he had a discoball going and the crowd went wild. I highly
recommend picking this release up.

Listening to early Aphex is, for me, akin to watching on
video the birth of the universe, something beautiful, scary
and strange. But then I am prone to overexcitement and
exageration. I love dearly the track "Analouge Bubblebath",
I know this is lame to say but to hear it when it was
released it was, just...lovely, it was the sound of
something I´d been waiting to hear all my life but didn't
yet know it. "Isopropophlex" holds a special place in my
heart as it was on the cassette tape a friend did of
SAW85-92, a tape i welded into my stereo, it may still be
there. "Entrance to Exit" is the sound of a rave (in the old
sense) that you really must leave before circus dwarves eat
you, and "AFX 2" is classic early Twin, and therefore pure
aural joy. In short, I give AB1 a big thumbs up.

wasn't TVT related to WAX TRAX in some fashion?
That label is defunct now, if i'm not mistaken, though i
usually am.

In other news, Isopropophlex is my favorite AFX track. I
prefer the AB version over the Classics version, don't ask
me why though.

Anyone else noticed Isopropophlex is different than
Isopropanol on Classics? So is Analogue Bubblebath. At
least ends differently. Great release though. One of the
first AFX cd's I bought.

yes, aparently analogue bubblebath from classics and
digeridoo is slgihtly diferent to this one in the ending

Quite sure. Although not by much, if you are referring to
Analogue Bubblebath (the song). Isopropophlex is obvious.
AB isn't. They at least end differently. Start differently
too. On Classics it just cuts in. I'd say it's from an
entirely different recording.

but isoprophlex = isopropanol = isopropophlex
is three diferent names for the same exact track according
to the xlt discog

also in discogs.com it confirms that isoprophlex in
digeridoo is the same track as isopropanol from classics

offline nacmat on 2005-10-20 20:19 [#01755934]

well... i cant see if isoprophlex from ab1 is diferent from
the one in digeridoo and classics

I could check right now, but I am listening to tch and dont
want to stop the album in the middle... maybe tomorrow

I was talking about the track "Analogue Bubblebath" mainly.
Isopropanol on Classics is also a completely different
recording than on AB1, as it is over a minute longer on
Classics and seems to play a bit faster. "Analogue
Bubblebath" is very slight different on AB1 than on
Classics, noteably the beginning and end and overall sound
quality. Isopropanol (Classics) and Isoprophlex (Digeridoo)
are indeed the same though. Then again on the Digeridoo CD
track 4 is mislabled as Isoprophlex and is actually Phloam.
A confusing world when start getting into the differences
between all the different releases of the tracks from this
time period. Thats better saved for a topic on Classics
though.

I have to agree with you

sorry to doubt
I trusted xlt discog too much tis time

I just checked:

isoprophlex from ab1 is about 5'20'' (cd reisssue)
isopropanol from classics is about 6'20''

I dont have digeridoo yet, but its on its way... also I am
aware that only the belgium digeridoo 12'' has isoprophlex
in it, while uk versions of digeridoo cd and 12'' have
phloam instead isoprophlex, but the track is mislabelled and
it says isoprophlex where it should say phloam

so yes, you were right

AB is slightly diferent in ab1 than in digeridoo and
classics,
and the isoprophlex in ab1 is one minute shorter than the
isoprophlex in classics and belgium edition of digeridoo

Basically Classics is just taken from the smae place as the
12"'s were, or perhapseven from them. Also note that
Isoprophlex on AB1 is actually labeled Isopropophlex. Not
to mention Flaphead being labeled as two words on the
Digeridoo 12", at least on one pressing of it. If I had the
original Mighty Force 12" of AB1 I'd check it and see if
it's the same. I have a feeling it is. It was before the
time when every different pressing was different. There are
4 different Windowlicker CD's, 2 different Bradley's Beat's,
2 different Powerpill's, 3 different SAWII's, 2 AB3's. I
know there are more, but that gets the point across. :)

yeah the classics Isopropanol is a minute or so longer. he
throw maybe one more loop in, but that about the only
difference. plus, the bass level of those zaps is decreased
and the pitch is slightly higher. maybe i'm just anal, but i
like Isopropophlex, the grittier version and more rhythmic,
a bit better.
