Renoise

Apparently it seems to be regarded as the best by the
tracker heads.

Basically it allows you to load a sample and fuck about with
it...it has vertical pattern lanes where you can trigger the
sample at different pitches and you can also use an offset
which triggers the sample at different points through the
loop. I own Renoise but I haven't got the attention span to
do stuff like Pennyworth, I prefer Cubase, and Cubase with
MaxMSP is a lot more flexible than anything you could
possibly imagine.

Buzz

This has always been my favorite program period.. tracker or
not. Some may criticize it for being too low tech,
complicated, blah blah. Don't listen, it's great. It has
modular synths with tracker-type sequencing. I have used it
for years.

once you get the hang of tracking, you can get REALLY
FAST at getting your production down.

I have the opposite problem. I only know about trackers
exclusively.

Yeah, Renoise is coming for OSX. I have been using
supercollider. I think it's amazing. You can make a sampler
patch with inputs to fuck with a sample in anyway you want.
Then stream in numbers to trigger the inputs. Awesome.

Is it in EDIT mode?

The record button should be pressed,
the shortcut for that is escape.

impulse tracker was the best damn tracker. you can't use it
now, it's DOS based. waited for impulse tracker 3 which was
going to be compete with all the big sequencers. but the
project died
