I am looking to see some movies. I sat down and tried to
think of some but i cant come up with crap.

I know we have quite a versitile crowd here so i am hoping
for some good suggestions.

Name whatever..... it doesnt matter if it is Die Hard or
some artsy fartsy film.

Breathless (or A Bout De Souffle) make sure it's the one
made in the 50's and not the one in the 90's

Very influential French new wave film

i just watched tesis...it's a thriller - i don't usually
like these films but this one was very good. it's about a
student who's doing a research on snuff films, and she comes
across some people from her university that are filming
these films...

I just saw it again on TV not too long ago and totally
enjoyed the heck out of it!

So do i .

This film has a bad script and is low budget , it was
realesed just after Enter the dragon, cashing in on the
massive hype of it.
And to top it off Jim kelly directed the fight scenes
himself which are so funny because they are poorly done .
mix this with a shit load of retro super funk cheese for
good mesure and you have a clasic on your hands ;)

The great thing is, is that you can go buy a classic kung fu
DVD and there are usually two feature films and it usually
costs $4-6!! :D

Volcano High - Must-see if you liked Battle Royal

Chinese Ghost Story - I grew up with this movie - One of the only
films I've seen to score 100% on Rottentomatoes.

Also, anything with Beat Takeshi: Scene by the Sea,
Sonatine, Hana-bi, Zatoichi, Kikujiro...

naked lunch is out on dvd, and is one of my all time
favorites.

big fish can likely still be seen in the cinema and was
excellent.

i also liked northfork a lot, but it's a very slow film
(though incredibly well shot and edited) and not for
everyone.

after hours is an all-time favorite, martin scorcese's take
on franz kafka about the insane trials of a man trapped in
soho.

DRUNKEN MASTER!!!!

Virgin:

the sequel? the sequel to Drunken Master is "The legend of
Drunken Master." There are several other films called "the
legend of drunken crane" and "drunken monkey" and stuff like
that.. the real names of these films have nothing to do with
drunken kung-fu... it is just a sales-pitch for Yuen Wo
Pings other films. Since he made the first drunken master,
they just call all his films "drunken [something]"

Kung-Fu /martial arts
(easy-to-find-at-you-local-movie-shop):

The Swordsman (1+2)
Once upon a time in china (all)
36 chambers of shaolin
Zatoichi (both the old series and the new film.. samurai,
btw.)
Fong sai-yuk
Claws of steel
All of bruce lees stuff (I'm guessing you already have
this)
All of Jackie Chans early stuff.

other (I will name films you most likely have already, but
I'll just name anything I can think of in case you DON't
have them already..):

Ringu (1+2+0)
Perfect Blue (animé)
Fight Club
Requiem for a dream
Dogma
Dancer in the dark
Apocalypse now redux
Angel heart
Seven
8mm
all Lynch, David.
Ghost Ship (only good if you never watch more than 15
minutes of it and immediately start playing Silent Hill
afterwards.. preferrably, you should play silent hill before
as well)
Akira
Ghost in the Shell
Spirited away / Sen to chihiro
Cowboy Bebop the movie
Corto Maltese

I didn't read the whole thead. so forgive any repetition.

Stalker. Amazing. Also by Tarkovsky and also well worth
checking are Solaris, and the Mirror. Worth it purely on
visual terms all of those.

Pretty much anything by Kurosawa, Rashomon is my favourite.

I was also really into Mulholland Drive when I saw it again
recently.

Man bites Dog.

Style Wars.
