Awesome, although more mainstremed? OR whatever word they
used, I hope that's a good thing.

i think he means: more emphasis on song - less on
production or in simpler terms - more 'Still' less
'Fragile'.

I'm looking forward to this too... I've always been a fan of

Didn't Metallica say they were making more simpler brutal
songs for St. Anger?

This is going to be garbage. Mark my words.

i like nin, the time between releases sucks balls. I think
it'll be kinda cool with rick rubin producing... i have
great hopes for this album...the fragile was sort of a
rushed mess/let down. i wonder who's distributing though, i
heard nothing was dropped from interscope somewhere

i keep on hoping hes gonna just stop singing and being angry
screeching guy and wise up and realise its NOT his strong
suit. he needs to go for the "Still" vibe and just start
doing piano stuff, or more organic sample layers. he SUCKS
at being the arena rocker guy!

bleedthrough is a stupid title, even.

oooooooooooooooooooooooh, blood.

bah!

quite disappointed by that article - there was word floating
around for a long time that the next album would be more
synth-based, hardly any guitars, going back to the days of
PHM, which i was really looking forward to....

then a few months ago i heard the name, bleedthrough
which was very disconcerting.

Still is good material, don't get me wrong, but i think it
would have been a lot better going back to synths rather
than organic sounds

i'm very skeptical... when he was doing shit with Richard
Devine, i thought there was hope that he would do something
interesting with his next album... but no, he had to go off
and make another hard rock record... and qrter is right...
the lyrics will be terrible...

-that said, i really, really, really, hope i'm wrong about
this

hey, you're into Skinny Puppy right?

As Skinny Puppy is mentioned as inspiration for NIN (at
least in the PHM era) could you please give me an album
recommendation for a first time listener?

rabies, last rights, or too dark park are their best imo.

id say you can pretty much guarantee a cerebral and intense
(somewhat disturbing) experience with one of those 3 albums,
especially as a first time listener.

youll never look back to trent, mate. ;)

would it be the studio version from that track that was used
as an intro for Terrible Lie only in live performances? o_O

heh, i'll give them a shot......see if i can get them online
for delivery in the UK.........if not, i'll spark up
Limewire or Acquisition ;)

got any other recommendations for some industrial stuff,
back in the day? you know, late 80's, early 90's?

hell prolly cheese it out for the lp.

oscillik: on second thought, go for rabies and work on up
through to last rights. i dont need you in a mental ward
after dosing and listening to love in vein or soemthing. :D

btw,

"...and I'm ready to combat the
shitty music that's out right now."

that's a pretty shitty thing to say.

what would you think, if you were in a war (i hate war, but
that's just for the example, say FPS instead if you want!),
of someone who shoots one bullet every two months,
remains hidden almost all the rest of the time, and then
pretends to be the saviour of your party/country and an
elite??

besides, i don't consider it to be a fight, it's just about
making good music.

i used to love NIN, but i'm not that impatient for this new
album in fact...

hehe, listen mate, i can take ANYTHING when it comes to
music (except commercial, and bubblegum pap shit wank
music)

okay, here's a profile of my major musical influences in
chronological order

Metallica
Prodigy
NIN
Atari Teenage Riot
The Cure
Aphex Twin
David Bowie
Joy Division/New Order
autechre

there, that might help you talor an album to me

heh

then by all means, go for last rights.

it is their absolute masterpiece, and i wouldnt ever deny
it... just seems some people dig stuff with guitar and stuff
more, like rabies (produced by al from ministry)

yeh, i can dig some of the old stuff, but my heart will
always lie with the 89-92 era.

and the new stuff... i thoguht keys last 2 solo albums were
AWESOME (if you love bites, check out dragon experience),
and ohgrs last one was one of the best records ive heard
come out of industrial EVER

to be honest, i'd rather not hear guitars anymore......more
synths, you know, synth patches that hurt to listen to (i
mean actually hurt you, not metaphoricly)

so, i'm gonna dredge around for Last Rights ;)

thanks for the tips, muchly appreciated

no problem, that album still makes my brain spin.

layers man, TONS of little layers.
but at the heart of it, its really and truly a pop record.
weirdness. its also a concept record revolving loosely
around the idea of drug addiction being someones downfall
and them basically being condemned to insanity or death. its
a very intense and heartbreaking record. not light fare by
any standards.
