continuing to avoid the 4/4 time signature, i contructed
this song over the last few days.

the scottish lakes of reverb

a bit of a slow start, but it picks up pace after a while.

anyone who guesses the time signature gets a mediocre prize
like me saying "hooray! you win!" or something.

no, 1736 the year when this important thing occured in
Poland, Maine, USA

Historical Highlights of Poland
1736 The General Court of Massachusetts granted a
petition for two townships of land to the officers and
soldiers who had served in the disastrous campaign of 1690
against Canada. It was called the Bakerstown Grant. No real
attempt to settle the area took place.

My god, don't you even know that???

well technically your common denominator is incorrect. i
suggest maths three times a week.

I like the sounds you use a lot, the melody is pretty and
seems kind of sad/wistful.. very emotional. Your drum beats
and sounds are awesome, I like the beat a lot. Nice work man
:)

you are wrong they both come out to .75 which means they are
the SAME NUMBER!

oh and zeph, i wrote this for a friend of mine who uses the
screen name "loch", that's where i got the title.

The melody is awesome, I actually liked it before the
percussion came in more.
I always get confused referring to time signatures in some
"4/4" or "3/4" way. People have tried to explain it.
However the main beat is based on 12 time units. The other
beat on top repeats in a certain number of repetitions of
this 12 unit block, maybe 3 or 4. This seems like a somwhat
normal time signature. The weird ones are odd numbers like 7
where stuff can't match up in pairs very well. Autechre's
"777" is probably the weirdest time signature I've heard.
Using the "4/4" or whatever classifications might just be a
vestigal remnant of when such classification was helpful in
written music. Now it's not even necessary to have
repetition occur on any sort of basic time block.
what would this be:
(1000)(0000)(0000)(0000)(0100)

It seems like it can be reduced to:
(1)(0)(0)(0)(1), but the last 1 is slightly off, making the
further subdivision of time necessary.

WHAT??????

all i know is when i was making drum loops i made them all 3
beats long. :/

basically in modern music the second number of the time
signature is meaningless, as you can't tell what it is by
listening, but you can with the first number.

Fucking nice. Real quality. Sounds like early Autechre given
an update of sophistication. At the moment I'm digging this.
