I don't like people who don't like decent music. Ho ho ho.
Truthfully conversation is pretty tough when someone is into dogshit. Its like 'oh you dig xyz dog shit group' mmm and they're yacking on about the strength of songwriting or whatever and you're thinking erm 'yeah put some fucking acid or some banging jungle on the record player' thats what I give for your songwriting waffle. Lol.

hmm... some people about RDJ album: - "some tracks are cool, but some are pissing me off" - "it is very spacey!"
a guy about Soliloquy For Lilith by NWW (dark ambient stuff, not noisy at all though!):
- "that's noise : P"
(this comment really made me upset. especially when the file transfer for one track lasted like half an hour.)
my father about... lots of stuff: - "not bad"
my brother about Merzbow: - [big grin] "great! that's completely dumb!!"
or, most of the time, when i listen with headphones, my brother looks at me with a weird look, like "what the hell is this crap?!". i don't like it when he does that.
but most of the time i don't make people listen to my music. ' _ '

"why are you always listening to german music?"
i don't know why the call aphex twin, björk, boc and such like as "german music" especially boc and aphex are 95 % instrumental :D
oh and my mum about björk:
"oh, you are listening to the shoeless girl again?"
she saw her once on DVD on a concert and she didn't wear shoes... *g*

Most of mine like what they have heard of boards of canada/aphex, a few like squarepusher (they came to see him live with me), and one likes autechre. Of course there are plenty of others that are just like "hahaha this is so shit" or something.
I remember playing some ae to someone once, and they explained to me how autechre make their music: he said that they record it on a casio keyboard at a slow speed and then make the tempo about 3 times as fast, play it back and record it. Stopping myself from putting him in incredible pain was difficult, but I managed. Instead I told him that yes, he was absolutely right, and never talked to him again.

Church music I've been told is what I listen to. That I thought amusing.
I don't have any problems basically 'cause both my sisters dig cool music too. We've all gone to Rephlex gigs together and share a liking for electro, drum & bass, techno, BOC, Aphex, Plaid etc etc etc.

my girlfriend on hearing plastikman: "its just a bit repetitive, don't you think?" ..we then poceeded to have a conversation about how she found it really hollow+mechanical. she thought the plastikman records were souless.. i believe they maintain an organic feel+a lot of emotion despite being skeletal in structure.
my girlfriend on hearing aphex twin, squarepusher, luke vibert, autechre, mu-ziq, chris clark, brothomstates, laurent garnier.. etc.
"i'm not sure i like this"
no no, seriously - i exaggerate. she does actually like a lot of tunes by these artists, just not all of them. she just doesnt really get into the tracks where the drum programming gets very complex+hectic, the sounds get glitchy, or the basslines get very acid-y. she's very tolerant of my tastes though.
she's got great taste in music.. she just doesnt follow me too far down the electronica/techno avenue.
im bored of typing now. as im sure youre bored of reading.

oh .. i remembered another one
Boards of canada - geogaddi
'and people pay for this..'
so i played plaid - rest proof clockwork
'is there any singing? dont you have anything with voices on it'
goddamn you should have listened to the boc if you wanted voices
anyway, i played ulrich schnauss - a strangely isolated place after the plaid.. and it was too cheesy
i give up...

I dunno, lots of people I've played IDM to have liked it (of course, if I make a tape for them or play something specifically for them, it's the more accessible stuff, no venetian snares etc.).
A mate from Switzerland heard a tape of stuff I had in my car and asked, "What is this music called? I've never heard anything like it, it's great."
Some of my friends like (and own) a couple of Aphex and NOW albums, but not much else.
Every shared house/flat I've lived in has got at least one person who has asked to copy some aphex mp3s from me.
My Brother likes some of the more accessible Aphex and all the NOW stuff.
Even my dad likes Portishead and Boards of Canada.
