and vice versa ? how is the situation between idm-artists.
i mean there are some collabo's between each other... but
there aren't many. do they try to fight each other and be
the best ?
or maybe the like eachother but they just don't work
together ?

all of them are Richards pseudonyms.

at least it may seem like that sometimes...

i bet they hate each other and can't stand to be in the same
room.

i thought about that after looking a bit on the techno scene
- everyone's working together, remixing each other like a
big family...
kinda sad...

why would they hate eachother?

wasnt there some interview when richy said he only liked
ae's latest output?

@ sadist: i think the idm-scene is more individualistic wrt
the techno scene, nothing sad about that

i was kidding. but it is true that autechre and boc are not
that sociable.

as far as aphex, he seems to be having a great time with his
rephlex mates and many other musicians...

i'd say idm guys work much more on their own music so they
don't have as much time for remixing and hanging out on
parties. as far as techno dj's - they are more party
oriented people imo.

it's the same with fans imo.

Aphex did say in an interview that he likes confield best of
all ae's albums. So you could say afx likes ae to a certain
degree, music-wise.

@ toystoyed

i don't agree that---i think that all people are
different...and you can't say that IDM artist work more on
their own music as Techno artist....its the same you can't
say Techno Artist go more party than idm...think about
it....it's a character thing and not a music style thing....

ok.
here's an example.
i know for a fact that our most popular dj (he's actually
quite famous worldwide) is booked for a year in davance -
he's playing every weekend and sometimes even during week.

aphex twin on the other hand (who's probably best known idm
artist) plays once or twice per month as far as i know
and im sure if he wanted, he could be playing every day.

He said in a interview that Confield is one of the 5 albums
he would take with him to a lonely island.

So in other words: Confield is in his alltime top 5 albums.

@ tolstoyed

...i think this compare doesn't work....i mean you can't say
it gernerally...

I agree with you...if you say Aphex makes not that much gigs
as Richie Hawtin.....

or Sven Väth makes more remixes than Plaid....whatever...

But don't say IDM makers make more remixes than Techno
artist....or mirrored

you know what i mean :-)

:)
im still quite certain that idm artists put more effort on
their production.

techno dj's most likely also put much effort on their music
making, but generally they make their music for dance floor
- so they play that in clubs way more.

idm isn't all that popular (at least not outside uk) so
artists don't attend many parties simply because there
aren't many - which is really sad btw.

i've read in an interview that richard is not keen on ae's
music. Only LP5 and confield are appreciated a little by
him.

the source? only my memory....

hey you can't even think of comparing making techno and idm
music !

i mean in techno, actually you try to make ONE good melody
that people will like to dance to. and you focus on the
beat. you don't think about the rest.

idm you think of evreythin else, because the songs are often
much more complicated. but even if not, you don't really
rhink about others...

I remember him saying in that interview that he hadn't cared
much about ae's output until confield, which he really liked
a lot.

but in a different interview he talked about autechre
sending him samples through e-mail, and he would send stuff
back.

it's all pretty uninteresting really.

Ae likes afx because they invited him to play at ATP and
have used his tracks in their DJ sets. I tend to think afx
doesn't care for Ae's music that much, especially their more
idmy stuff. I can see him liking the more esoteric
experimental things though.
