I wanted to do a discussion thread about this album, but I
couldn't cause of the stupid discography... so here's a
normal thread...

nice cd huh? I put it on last night for the first time in
months and it sounded better then it ever has... Acroyear2
and 777 are both excellent, and Corc is one of Autechre's
best... can't see why everyone would give Arch Carrier and
perfect 5 in the discography though... it's a nice song, but
far from my favorite...

One of the best imo.

One of Autechre's best release

Corc just hit me right in the heart.

I remember that I even heard new sounds after 10 times, with
this record Autechre suprised me the most

goddamn i want this cd, ive heard so many good things about
it. whats the actual sound like? i only have confield and
draft in terms of autechre, so comparisons to those would be
helpful

My fav autechre album by a nautical mile. Also their most
emotional imo

I had a couple of ae albums before this one, but this was
the one that got me completely into their sound (so much so
that i listened to almost nothing else for about two weeks
after getting it).

The breakdown in the middle of rae, i find absolutely
heartbreakingly melancholy. Marvellous marvellous
marvellous stuff.

eleven thumbs up.

It's a lot more structured and less chaotic than draft or
confield, but still has that ae chaotic intricate vibe.

LP5 reminds me a lot of shiny expensive graphics cards for
some reason.

I've been gradually collecting all of booth/brown's output
as of late, I've now been converted from an Aphex-only
electronic music listener, they're just phenomenal.

Confield is my latest pickup, after the third listen it
makes perfect sense. Indescribably brilliant. Can't wait to
hear Draft and pickup LP5 when I can....

Yeah, I skipped amber and lots of the eps (can't find them
yet), so I have:

incunabula
tri repetae (not ++, that's unfortunate)
chiastic slide
peel sessions 2
ep7
confield

Oh man. The garbage ep. You need to get this next.

If you have the cash, pick up chiastic at the same time,
it's the second best autechre album.

imoimoimo.

Almost a visual for Eidetic Casein, really... ;)

Listening to Feed Me Weird Things right now. This is a good

toejam: www.78records.com.au you can order stuff online and
they'll send you a little piece of paper when it comes in
and then you can take it to them and pay for the cd there..

Yeah, I know.

I've done it twice already with them, ordering stuff in.
They never fail me, either.

They list LP5 as CD5 - AE.

I'll get them to order it. Thanks for the advice btw, rob!

Either of those worth getting?

peel sessions 1 is worth getting for track 2 'inhake2'.. the
other two tracks are ok as well..

basscadet is pretty cool, if you're into a slightly
darker/edgier sounding incunabula sound

hehe i actually got incunabula, lp5, confield and gantz graf
from various sanity dance arenas..

omg 78s has come to viddy for 15 bucks! *orders*

i havent seen it on cd yet, but i know it has existed in one
form or another at some point in time.. not sure if its
still in print though

offline Toejam from Perth (Australia) on 2004-01-13 23:15 [#01032323]
Points: 3077 Status: Regular

oh right.
the basscadet you've got is a reprint, right?

there's so much good music around I'm still collecting. Last
night, this professional trumpet player came round for a
bbq, he said he was into "progressive trance", like paul van
dyk and stuff like that.

I played him some Incunabula, Confield and some fsol stuff.
He liked "eggshell" especially and he was right into the
weird time signatures of confield.

you like fsol much, rF?

offline Toejam from Perth (Australia) on 2004-01-13 23:16 [#01032324]

whoops, haha

he wasn't just "a random person that came around for a bbq
and happened to be a professional trumpet player", he was my
mum's friend's nephew.

He's from Sydney.

uh aanyyyway..... :D

hmm i'm not sure, mine is the warp/tvt/wax trax version ..
it says 1994 on it..

i havent heard much fsol, only 2 tracks that refund sent me
aaages ago (back in the v4 days)

ps have you been down to aesoteric at velvet lounge on
thursday nights? its pretty good, they usually have some
rather skilled performers there..

"stupid discography" huh? sometimes my patience with stupid

the crew has been working very hard with the discography for
free, just for the visitors, like yourself. so either THINK
before you make statements like that one OR keep them for
yourselves.

agreed with you funkmasta. arch carrier is certainly an
addictive track but by far one of the least interesting off
LP5.

under BOAC and the next track (corc?) are my personal
favourites, but most of 'em are quite impressive. to me ae
starts their best releases at cichli suite. there appears
(to me) their very own special sound/concept.
