Having spent some time on Friday at an exhibition watching
a detailed demonstration of the very latest Sony AIBO, and
wanting one.......wouldn't one of these Sony QRIOs be cool
also.

Tokyo Japan, December 18th, 2003 - Sony Corporation today
announced the development of dramatically enhanced motion of
Sony's humanoid robot, enabling integrated motion control
for walking, jumping and running. By applying this
technology to QRIO, which is one of Sony's technology
platforms, Sony has successfully created the world's first*
running humanoid robot.

Sony QRIO

Click on QRIO's Story, then one of the four storys you are
given, for a demonstration.

I dont think it'd be very affordable.

I'd like to know what it's worth, actually.

I assume that's a human looking robot (I can't find a Link
to those stories you mentioned) but didn't Honda have a
robot out like that that could vaccuum and stuff years ago?

You have to wait for the Flash intro to finish then, there
are four options, Choose 'QRIO's Story' then you are
presented with a further 4 options :)

so other than run and jump, does it serve any actual useful
PURPOSE? like fetching me beverages?

Having seen the latest AIBO in a 20 minute Sony
presentation, I'm well impressed with the technology. Get
QRIO a lead, and he could walk AIBO, to exercise him!

look, act and swim exactly like a real shark...i was
amazed when i discovered this, i mean they are taking so
long making humanoid robots, it never occured to me they

Now that I've had plenty of time to consider it, and have
talked about it with friends, I've changed my mind on
getting this. Although they are cool, I could buy something
more worthwhile for that kind of money.

Cute though, eh? :)
