This is a really deep jungle slammer.

The Bro - Amen Praise the Lord (v2)

I'm not too keen on the reverb on the main percussion in the
intro- makes it sound a bit too murky (although I imagine
it'd sound sharper in CD quality).

I like the constant quiet bass tone that runs through the
intro before the bassline comes in. This track could be
improved with a fatter more "sub" bass (you're getting there
at around 5.25) and a slight hike in sound quality all
round. I don't really like the high synth in it (I tend not
to like any high synths in dnb/jungle really). Still, good
programming skills.

BTW your spacecadet remix really cheered me up yesterday
after what was a rather gash day. It's what I'd call "dawn
music" music that makes you think of getting into bed as the
sun is coming up after having been up all night and are
greatful for sleep.

maybe it's the contrast with the seefeel i just listened to,
maybe i'm a little cranky from my cold, or maybe this just
isn't a style that i appreciate. it reminds me of µ-ziq...
the sing-songy high synth melodic motifs didn't do anything
for me, and the pitch shift percussion biz is a personal pet
peeve. there is a rhythmic variety and overall the track is
cohesive, nicely structured. i wish i could offer more
constructive commentary but this just wasn't my cup of
tea...

No probs, plaidzebra. As you say not your cup of tea.

Ceri JC, thanks for your views also.

the high synth isnt really my thing, but i love the drums at
the start with the drony bass. Actually, in general i like
the drums a lot, id just pump them a bit harder somehow, but
thats just me :p

good stuff :)

I didn't like it. The drums while decently programmed
lacked punch, and there was too much reverb. The high pitch
synth wasn't really good and the melody was weak. I liked
10 seconds around the 4 minute mark nefore the synth came
back in...it started to annoy me by this stage. Sorry.

Interesting. You know I'd never thought too much about the
reverb on this track. I'll be first to agree that drowning
drum tracks in reverb ruins them and I've heard some
productions where it does exactly that.

If you haven't added reverb the original sample must have
been drowned in it...I also think this is probably why the
drums lack punch as well.

Well I did work hard to try and resolve the hardness of the
drums in this track. I think the original sample was really
arse kicking and I thought I just need to start a track with
it. I believe the original sample had quite a lot of reverb,
I can't recall whether I added any extra. Yeah I did
struggle to get the phatness and beefiness into the drums.
Its my own fault in a way because I was working with some
low volume mono samples. Since this track I've used higher
quality samples so I don't have to fuck around try to
increase the volume artificially and the net result is it
sounds a bit thin.

Not my cup of tea - I'm not the world's biggest fan of
breakbeat, as has been documented in my book, "Breakbeat? No
thanks, break bones!" published in 34/55 aspect. I'll stop
this one now, so I can get onto your next one before I have
to leave for work :D

really....

can't you justs say "Promo's tracks online!".....and post
everyone as you go....?? ...this could lead to "promo's
69th ever track online", which would cause my head to
implode and then Phobia wouldn't be happy. :)
