I think I want to save up for Klipsch ProMedia 5.1. Is there a
better choice?

THX makes speakers? These are THX certified, I know that
much

Depends what you want to do...

All PC speakers suck in my opinion... at least if you want
to make music. And for me just listening to stuff... but I'm
picky.

I'd get a cheap pair of 20$ speakers, go look at
www.tomshardware.com for some good reviews and save up for a
decent pair of Triangles or something

sanguine, all pc speakers do NOT suck.

you do not NEED home theater speakers that need to fill a
15x15foot room with sound.

we are talking about sitting at a computer desk

where clarity and close proximity are important...

:/

I have a 2.1 system right now, but it's getting kind of old,

only 30watts

as for the GXP's, I didn't like those because of how they
look all "XTREME", not my thing

Klipsch are probably my favourite brand of speakers... their
audiophile stuff in particular rocks bells. If you lack the
willpower to save up for that, Cambridge Soundworks stuff is
good for the price.

Don't buy PC-speakers. Save up for some real gear instead.

The Kilpsch Roque! Best Hifi buy you can make in a pc
speaker and will blow away most folk's home theater set-ups.
I have had a set of the Promedia 4.1's for almost 5 years
and they still sound tight after years of abuse. Good for
music and games though they cannot compare to my
Dahlquist's.

being that I can't seem to figure out how to plug it into my
stereo, I'm not into the idea of buying a whole new stereo
as well, so I'm going to go with PC speakers for now. thanks
for the advice though

No way, go for a Creative 5.1 setup. They are the best for
sound...
