Mega Man 2 speed run

Mario got the royal treatment, now it's time for the
incomparable Mega Man 2.

Spiffy

This is a more complex game, with all the shooting and
weapon switching and bosses that you have to fight. So,
arguably, it's even more impressive.

Fucked up. That's what these guys/gals are. Guys, probably.
It'd be funny if a girl managed to do something this
awesome. Lolz. Yeah right. [/sexism]

I always refer to them (speed game completers) as "him" for
two reasons:
1) If the gender is unknown, it's grammatically correct to
say "him", "his", "he", etc.
and
2) Very few girls are that sad (in a cool way) that they are
prepared to put the hours in on something that is ultimately
so pointless.

i've met a girl that's supposedly extremely damn good at all
the nes games like mario 3/tetris etc..

empty claim from her..

There's a very big difference between people who are "damned
good" (I'd count myself as that at Marble Madness -
completed on the NES with 22 seconds spare, nyah!) and
people who play games so many times that they can complete
them the most efficient way with no mistakes at all
the way you see in the smb3 and MM2 clips posted here :)

well that was kind of what i meant, she knows every single
"secret" in smb3/can play it very efficiently, and is
insanely good at tetris/dr mario, and is generally better
than any nes-confident male at most old school nintendo
games.

You can't do that. This is sooooo fake.

Ok, I just tried out a bunch of the stuff he/she did in the
video.

1st: The bubble man stage trick doesnt work (atleast on the
US cart anyway)
I tried about 30 times. The game forcefully moves me to the
left, and or I get stuck at the top.

2nd. During the Air man stage when he hops on the floating
cloud robot spear chuckers, you get hit. You need to shoot
them. Standing on the edge only works for about 3 seconds.
Just by touching these guys you lose energy.

Narrrrr In the Itchy and Skratchy CDROM is there a way to
get out of the dungeon without using the wizards key ....

I'd love to see someone do RM1 (MM1) like this... MM1 is
probably the hardest of the series.

I've never played this game, so i'm not really impressed :-p

He makes it look easy, haha! But then again he does
lose energy every now and then... so i'm still more
impressed with the smb3 video. That guy was flawless.

"you have NO fucking idea what you are takling
about
"

Lol... you're probably right ;-)
The only megaman i've ever played is megaman x on snes. I
didn't find that one very difficult.

"you should try playing it"

yeah maybe... it does look fun!
I heard Capcom is going to release some sort of
Megaman-compilation (not sure which games exactly will be on
it), i'll probably get that one :-)

Mega Man 2 is awesome, especially the soundtrack. Every damn
level has an unforgettable melody.

It's not a HARD game, per se, though there are some tough
spots in it, way more than Mario 3, and that guy navigated
them flawlessly. I could probably do a perfect Mario 3 level

(I've come close, some of them are pretty standardly laid
out), but I always lose a ton of energy in Mega Man. Plus,
some of those bosses can be pains in the arse! This guy just
happens to know all the tricks. It's not that easy.

Sick.

Fuck.

Both blew my mind though.

I went to the Shoryuken forums after I saw this Mega Man one
earlier, and sure enough it was there too lol.

You should see speed runs for doom2 levels. There is a WAD
file, "hell revealed", where the times are insane,
and the levels are insanely difficult. Those
accomplishments beat the hell out of beating mario 3 fast.

the mario 3 was not done, all in one piece, in realtime...
I don't think you can compare two different games like that.
But all speedthings are impressive, yes...
