FROM THENINHOTLINE

"""I figured that you would all like to know that in the
upcoming issue of Alternative Press Magazine (the 25 most
anticipated artists of 2004) which hits stands the first
week of December, one of the artists/albums covered is NIN.
The report states the overall vibe and sound of the record
and lists some of the people that are involved in the
production such as Rick Rubin, Atticus Ross, and Leo
Herrera. The official album title is "BLEEDTHROUGH."
There are three song titles also mentioned. Another point
worth noting is that Trent is quoted as saying that he is
fed up with the perfected quality of computer-produced music
(specifically the use of ProTools software) and that this
record was done with alternate methods. There is no specific
release date mentioned."""

more info here (scan down to spring)

i hope rick rubin does some programming and not just
producing it like he would normal rock bands.. listen to the
classic run dmc 'raising hell' album or the new jay-z song
"99 problems" for examples of what i mean (or the "piggy"
remix i guess)

on your page that d'angelo is still not close to making a
new record... Donnie "the colored section" just isnt filling
the d'angelo void adequatly :)

recycle - i have nothing personal against rick rubin, of
course. but it seems like he produces all these bands i
don't like, and whenever he works with someone cool (ie nin,
flipper, etc) it always sounds like shit.

"...According to this interview, Trent is also considering
releasing an EP of new music recorded in 5.1 audio. This
article says Richard Devine will be helping a little on the
next album but this more recent interview casts some doubt
on whether the studio session was fruitful or not. One
problem about the collaboration is Trent's management is
giving him a hard time about contracts (payment), but the
main issue is Trent doesn't think Richard is into it..."

alec wanted to do some remixes of "starfuckers, inc." but if
he remixed anything (and he probably did in 1999 or 2000) it
never came out. ATR did open for NIN in europe 1999 though.

NINE INCH NALS
TITLE: bleedthrough (NOTHING)
EXPECT IT: "Soon."

"The record explores loss and possible discovery of self,"
says Trent Reznor about the follow-up to 1999's The Fragile,
"along with alternate layers of reality and perception set
inside a nightmare you can't seem to wake up from; with lots
of feedback." Reznor has enlisted Atticus Ross, Jerome
Dillon, Leo Herrera, mix engineer Rich Costey and Rick Rubin
to help mold bleedthrough, which will feature new songs such
as "The Line Begins To Blur," "Everyday Is Exactly The Same"
and "My Dead Friend." This time out, Reznor is introducing
high-tech to low-life. "Computers, among other things, are
ruining music these days," he says. "I hate the Pro Tooled
sound of perfection and everything being 'fixed.' This
record is most definitely 'un-fixed.'" And when it comes to
touring behind the release, T. Rez is planning on
reinventing the will. "It won't be the last tour over again.
That person isn't here anymore." [JP] (as in Jason
Pettigrew, probably)

ok...i actually think that his "change of sceney" as i like
to now dub it (thank you, thank you), is HIGHLY influenced
due to the fact that he's not producing an adequete sound. I
remember countless articles that all trent would devuldge
was the fact that it was going to be more electronic, and
even ding into his synth pop roots (OPTION 30 ROCKZ! :P).
Anyways, i find it hard to believe that trent would
significantly drop pro-tools; hell, he's practically a
posterchild for music making on the mac with 'em! I do,
however think that his newer abulm will be a bit harder, and
thrasher than the last, but he's been quoted in saying that
his whole downward spiral image/sound was a front from his
real feelings of tenderness he displayed on "the fragile." I
seriously hope (for the fact that he's a major fraud
(ohhhhhhh trent, will you ever escape skinny puppies
shadow?) that he's not buffering his audence to a somewhat
crappy atempt to capture a "joy division" re-kindling of his
past.

trent has deffinate illusionary talents. I remember some of
the shit he did alone on lost highway...they suck!

Also, you'd think with his ULTRA STUDIO OF THE GODS! he'd
mop the floor with anything that's out there. ALONE! but he
has to contract to other producers, instrumentalists, and
programmers.
