Peiul Cx Hetli (or whatever)
Rhubarb
Stone in Focus
Avril 14th

are not sad songs.
I always see them referenced as being such despite the fact
that they are not mournful, or elegaic, or tearjerkable or
lkdfhaslk.. (someone even wanted the formermost to be played
at his/her funeral (!?)

lichen.. on the other hand.. is.

discuss

i've played chords and tried to decide wether they were
"happy" or "sad" chords...

do specific notes implay a particular feeling?

major = happy, minor = sad

i dont think rhubarb in itself is a sad song, its really
uplifting from one point of view, but if in the wrong mood
all it does is make you want to feel and have that
beauty that is saw2

They're sad for the same reason I find Pet Sounds sad,
despite the major keys and romance. I'm just a megaultraemo
guy and these songs represent something beyond my grasp.
Boohoo!

I think Rhubarb is one of the most 'mournful' pieces of
music I've ever heard.
From a musical perspective, it follows all the rules to make
it sad - slow, descending melodies, minor key... the fact
that so many people think it's sad just backs this up.

offline tragedy from Gloucester (United States) on 2003-11-01 03:40 [#00928239]

in my opinion i think it is the saddest piece. tho i have
heard MANY songs that come reealllly close. just take a good
listen to the donny darko sdtk. . .

You get music in the major key which are sad, and music in
the minor key which are joyous... also, each key has its own
distinct feel, which is why the key of the composition is
vital to the tone... C major is a good one for something
plaintiff and sad, as it is so near to the old Modal
Keys....

How's that make me angry? Seeing as any sane person on here
and those that know me know that my girlfriend is a real
person. Your girlfriend is a real person too no doubt. How
is your hand?

And I don't think you should be bringing my girlfriend up
RIGHT now as I'm not in the best of moods for someone to
start talking bollocks about her.

You're still an obstinate ass.

I don't care who you are really. You could be the head of
the FBI and I'd still call you an obstinate ass. Because
that's what you are.

You're such a dick on this board. Why do you even bother to
come here?
