Is it possible to replace the audio in jack for your
computer? I snagged the cord and it pulled it sideways and
it went 'snap' and now its loose in the socket.

You should be able to solder a new one on.

Well, it's a laptop, I don't necesarily want to take it
apart myself... how much could it cost?

most laptop soundcards are pieces of shit anyway.

think of what happened as putting your card out of its
misery.

time to invest in something external, usb, pcmcia, etc..
you'll be much better off.

I have got the Soundblaster MP3+ for one of my old laptops.
It is USB connection, has RCA connectors, Optical In/Out,
headphone and mic in. It cost me £20.

i'm afraid i have to agree with pomme on this one. i bought
my laptop this summer, and i've just recently bought a usb
sound interface (i needed better sound and more outputs) So
I got this one. It's one of the affordable ones,
but the sound quality is pretty decent. If you're a true
audio enthusiast, i'd recommend the audiophile usb.
