This thread is a shoot about my utter disappointment at this original movie.
**This is an opinionated post remember**
I for the record hope the remake is better.
I Just saw this last week for the first time. This was fucking horrible! How could that fat fuck chase that girl around for ever and ever? That scene seemed to last an hour or maybe ever years. It just never ended. That fat piece of shit is no where in the shape he would have to be in to chase her for ever.
ARRRRRGH!!
And then when she seeks refuge in that gas station/store she got beat with a broom. Not even the handle but the brush part. :/ WTF? Seriously???
Let's see a show of hands please. How many guys here would have beat the fuck out of that skinny ass redneck for attempting to do something so frivolous.
WTF????
I had previously heard that this movie was so scary and blah blah blah.
Now Playing: Cylob - Disappointment

Me being a HHHHHHHUUUUUGGEEEE fan of horror movies enjoyed this film you speak of (i started the other Chainsaw massacre thread about the NEW movie, which is pretty cool), and i agree somewhat with you as well, I mean horror movies man... I dont watchem cause they are gonna be really good movies, mostly cause the ideas, the deaths.. I dunno the overall feeling of watching a horror movie...

The idea of this movie WAS good. I actually should have added that. There was a good premise behind it all and if the script could have been reworked and maybe a different director..... i dunno
Also when that freak cut that handicapped guy in the van at the beginning of the movie.... that merits another solid "WTF"
Like your friends wouldn't kick that guys ass for cutting your hand, handicapped or not. That really pissed me off. That was so unrealistic.
I understand that they were trying to exemplify this guys personality but come the fuck on!

virginpusher: in the new version of the flim, they meet someone on the road, but its not the same ... they pick this person up and things happen differently, trust me...... much more realistic. This new version of the film was better than the original by far!

Cool! I will probably check it out then. Good to hear! How about the chase scene? is that revamped?
and based on my previous comments, do you think i may enjoy this film a bit more?

virginpusher: well, there is a chase scene or two, but its not played out at all, and it turns out actually quite cool, ofcourse with a nice twist and it isnt that long at all, so its alllllllllll good.
also, yes from what you said I think youd totally like this film ALOT more than the 1st. It was well done, and its not some cheesy teen horror flick, its good shit.
lots of brain matter.

the film has possibly lost some of its impact over the years but that is only because it has been copied to death. some scenes still disturb me, like the guy nonchantly spearing the chick on the butcher's hook and the scene where they're trying to get pa to kill the girl with the hammer. a truly fucked up film and a classic in the horror genre.

well you have to remember horror has massively evolved since the original - it doesn't seem like anything today, but back then it was the cream of the crop.
does anyone know who's directing this remake?

not verry scarry. but therre is one bit that sends chills up my spine... the bit wherre the guy rruns in the house and trrips up then gets his head caved in with a hammerr, that's just sick.

you have to remember it was also very appropriate for the time, considering it was based loosely on the incident of Ed Gein. Nowadays, no one remembers him.

the fact is, back then, people knew who Gein was, and the fact that something like that actually existed within our world was frightening enough.

but seriously, back in the 70s, a man who wore a mask made of women's skin scared the shit out of people - especially the fact that it actually happened.
however, the chainsaw part isn't real - tobe hooper got the idea when he was in a hardware store, and a crowd came and he was basically stuck in there, and then his eyes went to a chainsaw, and he suddenly knew how he could get out of there REAL quick. In that 15 seconds he basically had the skeleton for the plot.

More animosity towards this film than I thought. It has definitely lost some shock value over the years... little or no gore, it's all left to the imagination. That's what makes it scary for me... the Leatherface character and the whole concept bothers me long after the movie is over.
But I also think the movie rocked and had a ''real'' feel... although the characters were definitely fucking morons. That was prophetic.

i watched "texas chainsaw massacre 3: leatherface" the other day, and it was terribly disappointing.. the guy playing leatherface didn't even vaguely resemble the other actors who played him in the previous movies.. the only real similarity was the old rotting grandpa character..
