Finally something interesting in music again... this tune
"I Believe In A Thing Called Love" is one of the best tracks
I've heard since 1988 and the video is fun and sarcastic.
Really great vocal range and energy, check it out.

(along with mullets, trucker caps, and a whole shitloada

there's nothing funny or ironic about this crappy

I f*kin hate The Darkness!
I thought their first video was kind of funny the first time
I saw it - But it's the kind of music that REALLY pisses you
off when you've seen/heard it a few times...
Then their second single was just the same - Another novelty
piece of crap.
It's not funny atall - It's basically a Spinal Tap rip-off -
Now Spinal Tap was briliant! Absolute genius!
But it's been done now, and it's been done much better.
I'd give The Darkness another few months before the HMV
chart whores realise how pointless and shallow they are and
they fade into obscurity like most of todays' chart music.

No offense intended to anyone who likes them!
Maybe it appeals to the American sense of humour in some
way... But for us Brits it's just another reason not to
watch MTV or turn the radio on.

the single is alright, but annoys me a little... I'm all for
old styles being given a new twist, or being brought back or
something... especially cheesy styles like this, but I don't
really take to the song much... it's ok, but nothing special
in my opinion...

I just think it's so ridiculous... mainly the video. I
hadn't watched TV in over a year and I came back to my
parents house last week to turn VH-1 on and I saw the video
thinking, WTF?! Am I back in 1988? It was so funny.
Especially the guy in the band with the muton chops that
comes out from behind the door trying to be kool and robotic
like. This band will never get big in the US, so it was even
funnier to see them on TV. They just look like they are
having fun, and I don't see anything wrong with that. And
that guys vocal range kicks.

I listened to their album yesterday and I must admit I
thought it was pretty abysmal.

Some kinds of music were meant to stay in the 80s.

Yeah - The thing with The Darkness is they're a one hit
novelty - It's kind of funny and amusing at first, reminds
you of Spinal Tap, but gets old very quickly...
Now they can't seriously expect to forge an entire musical
career out of a cheap 2 minute laugh...

Haha, they're not a fun band, they're just a weak old joke
that got boring a long time ago, trying to be a band.

They're the kind of band that make me want to break things
and hurt animals - They piss me off even more than that
watered down white-marketed pseudo hiphop bullshit that's on
MTV Base these days - And that does make me angry!

But isn't music meant to be fun? Isn't that what they're
doing? I wouldn't go so far as to say I love them but I
enjoy them.

I'd heard of them before I liked them but never heard their
music. I was at the Reading Festival. I had no idea who was
on stage but at first I thought

Wankers!

They were strutting around like cocks. Then they started to
perform and it was fun. Simple fun. So their songs aren't
complex or intelligent but who cares really. IT's not stuff
that people will be looking back on in years to come but
does that matter? Right now, music is in a bad state with so
much packaged shite being churned out. It's become business
first and entertainment second. All these shitty boy bands
and their like take themselves so seriously and think
they're the greatest thing to happen to music. That attitude
sucks and it's killing music. People get into it for fame
and fortune rather than a real love for music. Fuck that! At
least The Darkness are going about it the right way. Doing
the pub circuits for years before getting signed. Name other
current people at the top end of the charts who didn't get
signed because they took part in some stupid TV program or
an audition for bands or knew someone influential.

One of the main reasons I like the band so much is the lead
singers voice. It's so unique that either you love it or
hate it, and I sort of like how most people will hate it. I
think it's so fun and different from most of the vocal
stylings I've heard. It's just so crazy and funny to hear a
grown man singing higher than Mariah Carey. Just when you
think he won't get higher he does, and it sounds good,
that's the scary part. Rock on.

I got nothing against fun music - Spinal Tap was awesome
(and everything the Darkness are trying to be), MC Pitman is
totally stupid, but lots of IDM folk dig him cos he's
genuinely funny...
The Darkness could've been much better IMO - Spinal Tap
managed to pull the whole thing off so believably and with
so much more class and irony - The Darkness are very poor by
comparrison - What got me is that their second video/single
had no new ideas atall - Also, in the UK they used to play
those tunes all day solid on MTV and it's the kind of music
that really pisses you off after a while.
I thought they did the same with The Strokes - They find
something mildly interesting/different, then decide to play
it 24 hours a day until it really gets on your nerves.

You can't beat the Spinal Tap. Sheer Rock Gods and I love

I don't have MTV and I don't listen to the radio so that's
probably why I'm not sick of them yet. Maybe my time will
