embarrasing explaination

So today one of my friends into the hardcore punk scene
(and NOTHING else) says "So why do you like techno?"

So there's that akward silence and I have to explain that
it's not the "boom chick boom chick boom chick" house music
shit that most people associate with the term "techno", it's
something else. The only way I think I can make him
understand is by burning him a mix CD.

Woah woah woah, what's wrong with "boom chick boom chick
boom chick". I have plenty of those cds. They're just as fun
as the rest. =)

I think I would have been listening to APhextwin sooner if
someone WOULDNT have shown me come to daddy.

I was like "WOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE NINE INCH NAILS!!!" then
with out an info at all I download surfing on signwaves and
like "WOW THIS GUYS SHIT" lol

I think Autechre and Telefon tel aviv really opened my mind
to things. This Genre consummed me whole : )

Oh and I went for coffee with a friend once and he said
"YOU HAVE TO HEAR THIS" he passed his Discman to me and said
"Its an album called WINTER IN THE BELLY OF A SNAKE by this
guy called VENETIAN SNARES"

It just went all downhill from there : )

It is a pain in the arse. You have to mention words like
"ambient", "jungle", "drill", "glitch" and "experiemental"
before people just give up and talk about something else.

ok so dont think that he represents that muical community
for the rest of the death/grind/black/hardcore guys, cause
uh.... I know lots of people that are not into the shit, but
they understand totally - the difference between and why its
cool and why its not. Also quite a few of them enjoy it now
and then...

I dunno.. I guess its all good because you could say the
same about lots of others, vice versa, like a metal head or
this hardcore guy might not get why you or someone else
maybe doesnt like hardcore or whatever...

go weirdo as fuck.. show him ventolin when i was blasting
cannibal corpse, or deicide or any others along fucking time
ago I was shown ventolin and it blew me away.... totally.

this is how i would do it. Start with some semi hard stuff,
vordhosbn then keep gradually moving up the scale to harder
stuff, finnaly reaching CTD in the middle of the
mix.......then right after CTD play flim, cause it will be a
realy big shock, then move down to some really slow abient
stuff, and maybe even a few mellow tracks from 26
mixes......finally at the end when he's expecting something
more soft stuff, unleash KTP2, this will realy fuck him up
:) and teach him a little bit about respect

Ask them why they like Punk. IT's a bit of a shit question.
Why do you like Techno? It sounds good to my ears. Only
feasible answer really.

Coming from the guy in a punk band, punk is bullshit.
Especially now.

Did you know that Johnny called up Marky and Didi Ramone
after Joey Died and said "Now we can push new merchandise
..." ???

Thats bull shit !!!!

*Story on Johnny and Joey .... they didnt talk to each other
for 10 years, not even in jams : \
(One married the others girlfriend or something like that.)

im in the same situation, i think im going to put vordhosbn
and some piano tracks on so he can associate them. then a
little autechre around peel sessions and chiastic, then
really heavy on the boc. What do you think? He likes
radiohead and things like that, i just have to get him to
cross over into the idm universe. its my older brother.

i hate having embarassing explanations!!! °_°
or even seeing someone having to do embarassing
explanations, makes me feel as bad too.

but i don't think this "techno" problem is that
embarassing, is it?

I feel better if I give the embarassing true explanation,
rather than make up a fake one. In the grand scheme of
things, it means nothing.

I always have to explain to people when they ask me what
music I lsten to that it isn't "boom shhk boom shhk - break
out the glowsicks and pacifiers" gay trance/dance music
though.

Punk sounds like ass. No rhythm, no melody. Nothing at all.
IDM has the pissy attitude (at least, ideally it does) but
it also takes skill.

normal music, no i didnt say that, i mean, it's more thought
out, ok i think you people are stupid"
