apples and oranges... (they're very different, but they're
both very productive and making music aggressive to the ears
in a way)

but i'm just curious to know which one is more popular among
this board... (if you don't like either, why did you come
here in the first place, you can answer kiwis if you want.)

personally, i prefer Merzbow and apples.

Snares > Merzbow, apples > oranges, apple juice > orange
juice.

vsnares. His stuff is "technically" very good, even if you
dislike it. Whereas Merzbow is just, well, noise :P

Ceri JC > there is more than just noise... it just requires
many noises to dig the things out of this, but there is more
in Merzbow than meets the ear at first. i can't say the same
about vsnares - - - but i admit that, saying that, i do not
know anything about technical aspects of music so i could
just shut up i guess! ; )

cutups > you do not have to. : )
it is just a kind of survey to see which one is more popular
here.

I don't like snares' you "sort" of music. I generally like
my music a bit slower. Even Amen Andrews is a bit too hyper
for me. I like drum and bass, even some Alec Empire/ATR, but
snares' stuff is just a little too intense for me. However,
I do like the track "Faust" by him and recognise that he has
some good skills. He is also a very nice bloke by all
accounts, which is a point in his favour.

Sorry Uzim, but I think people "imagine" structure/talent in
noise music. Just repeating the same horrid sound at regular
intervals amongst static etc. doesn't mean it has structure
IMO. I've only listened to about 5/6 of his tracks, but it
was enough for me to not want to track down more. I've often
thought about re-adjusting my stance on noise (especially as
I get annoyed when people say the music I listen to/make is
"just noise" and it has occured to me that perhaps people
who like noise really do see something in it...), but I do
think it's pretty talentless. I even made a noise track that
has got some half decent beats to it and sounds in the
background. Tried listening to it turned down like ambient
music (I'd heard some people listen to quiet noise as a sort
of white noise type sleeping aid). Pretty much everything,
but I don't like it or even really recognise it as music.
Still if you like it, enjoy it :)

some people like beats, beats are good,

I mean where would music be without beats?

and ya know, some people like their beats fast, a lot of
people do beats but only a few do them fast and make them
sound good,

then there are some that not only like their beats fast, but
wish for crazy silly fucked up time signatures and nice
little melodies to accompony that,

this is where vsnares comes in

he is merely filling a void in the market, and where there
is demand there mut be supply

now noise, some people like noise, noise is good,

I mean where would music be if there wasn't any noise?

and ya know, some people like there noise extreme, none of
this softcore pan pipes or flutes playing random notes in
the background, they want teeth grinding hardcore white
noise!!!!

then there are some that want a bit of order and beauty
behind there chaotic flurry of noise

this is where merzbrow comes in he is merely filling a void
in the market, and where there is demand there must be
supply

now, as for apples oranges and cake...........

ps I vote vsnares because I haven't gotten into merzbrow

i think that demand was more or less created by merzbow,
he's not just 'supplying a demand'
