What i've noticed here.....

I've noticed one not very nice thing here.
( its good that its the only one so far :) )
there are several people making music at home ( or whatever
) . here they have possibility to listen yo opinion's of
others about this music.
BUT
here we have a group of friends- im not gonna call names -
this is apparently group of 15 people. they probably know
eachother not only from the board.
The problem is , that posts of otherpeople ( not from this
group )about their music are checked very rarely - friends
are checking friends , and that's it
im not sure that you all understand me good ...
in other words - when someone new is coming here and he's
giving thread about his music - the thread is going down
fast fast....
without response.
i had 2 threads "almost" without response , but i dont want
you to think that i'm complainin'
its just that this board gives the oportunity to hear
something about Your music....but this is only said "on
paper" - in fact posts of unknown people are without
response
this is not good because if this wil not change - soon we
gonna have loads of bedrooms dj's in Club Rotation style

i dont know , maybe i have bad day
but i feel inside that i wanted to say this from long long
time ago

Am i right or not ?

bump em some times.. that helps..

and its only logically that people who spend more time here
get more listens.. if your music is well known ppl are more
likely to spend their bandwidth on it

i think i get your point... its a bit poorly worded though

i dont know what to do about it either..

well, there are some people who know each other for a long
time (from the previous site) and i guess they're interested
in each others music so they talk about it a lot...
yeah, i guess if you'd like more attention you need to be
more persistant and bump your music up all the time :)

offline hyakusen from 8=============> on 2003-09-30 10:42 [#00884091]

yes its very poorly worded coz my not very good
english...and..im not sure how to say this , you know i have
this in head

for example - im here everyday ( almost allways ) - can you
remember my threads about my music ? i bumped this threads
several times , but when you are bumpin your thread for 15
time its not very good for others threads...
i dont know what to do either...its just what i've noticed
maybe a bit of discussion could be helpful

I disagree, I think it's fair the way it is- people who come
here more are more likely to know people and hence know
their music. What you're forgetting is that people will know
that person's style and may enjoy their tracks and therefore
willingly download them.

Why should I listen to the music of someone (this is not
directed at you!) who has just signed up to the board to
spam their tracks? The most irritating is seeing people with
<100 points bumping a topic about their music. Why ought I
waste time and bandwidth DLing their stuff when they've
never commented on anyone else's stuff?

Fair enough, if I see someone whose opinion I respect saying
that a track is good, I'll check it out. When I was new here
I must have commented on at least twenty tracks
before asking others to comment on mine. That way the people
who commented on mine had already gotten something in
return.

I also think that the really good music makers here tend to
be the most downloaded... it's not a popularity contest,
there are some people I don't talk to on the board at all,
but I still like their music and hence DL it.

you have the possibility to post links to your music on this
board - however, it isn't the purpose of the board.

so everyone is free to download and listen to what they want
to, if they want to.

I think you should bump them MAKE PEOPLE LISTEN.

I've listened to a few of peoples music here, not a lot
cause I dont have speakers on my computer at work but if I
come across one I have a listen. I even have a folder with
all the music ive got here :D

BUMP!

"yeah, i guess if you'd like more attention you need to be
more persistant and bump your music up all the time :) "

I don't know about that...
I get put off by people bumping their own music thread every
30 minutes- if it's the next day or at night rather than
day, fair enough, but when people are bumping it very
frequently I tend to ignore it on principle. Much the same
as I'd never buy something, even at a great price if I had
recieved it as spam. Posting links to a new track 2/3 times
a day counts as well in my book (I mean putting several
songs up and making a topic for each one)

Please don't take this the wrong way hyakusen, but your
initial repeated bumping of your tracks put me off DLing
them for a few weeks. When I finally did DL them, I enjoyed
them and will probably now DL most of the new ones.

thanks :)

Ceri : youre forgetting that some people just want to
listen opinions - without interfering in community like this
. it snormal - i dontr think that waiting for >100points
before posting music is good idea - with this we will have
community of point-catchers.
to be honest - i was once in communioty where points were
most important.
you know what happened ? hole board was only about new ways
of geting points.
i think that the points are no matter here.

then post em on www.mp3.com.au and benefit from the chart
system

your attitude is a bit selfish, ceri's right, when you keep
moaning about ppl not downloading your stuff they are not
likely to do it anytime soon

well, I believe Ceri's point is more that you can see the
amount of points as a global indicator of how much a person
is involved with the xltronic community (shiver!).

it mostly just works better if you get to know people a bit
better and to let them get to know you, before posting your
music.

it's not a rule or anything, but that's just how people
work.

you get the point , see ?
i ( i didnt wanted to talk about myself but ity happend)
gave post about my music and there was no response - so i
bumped the post - and because of bumpin i puted you off from
it for weeks.
this is not working properly
where's the point ? bumpin" ? no responses ?

the more you hang around, the more people will check out
your stuff, that's just how it works.

in a perfect world everyone would listen to everbody's music
they posted. but that's just not the case here.. just be
persistent.

this isnt a post your tracks to be reviewed board, so one
shouldn't expect that kind of environment.

if someone hangs around on the board and posts in alot of
topics and shares their opinions on various things, i will
more likely check out their tracks because i consider them
an aquaintance at that point...

i try to listen to as much stuff as i have time for. i
admit i give preference to people who's choons i have liked
in the past but mostly i try to listen and give
feedback to as many as possible because that's what i would
want for my choons.

i'd advise making the topic title obvious so that people can
tell it's a new track. that helps me pick em out of the
rest.

i also make music for myself - but with this board i have an
opportunity to share it to others
just because
im not complainin' coz my posts were without response - i
will not disappear from here coz of this ,
its a shame that this opportunity needs to be used only
after posting in other threads

I sometimes deal with requests to listen to tracks the same
way I do with "mp3.com fan mail" (read: spam requests to
listen to their tracks from strangers). I ask the person to
DL and comment on one of mine first then I'll listen to one
of theirs in return.

I check music out more than I comment on it. Sometimes I
find tracks so bad there is no point in saying anything,
when someone else already said they liked it. If I like a
track, I say so.
I agree that it's annoying when new people spam tracks,
luckily there isn't that much of it here.

(none of my own music is available online, but the idea is
very tempting)
