I need to get Ae's Envane and Cichli Suite, but none of my local record stores can order imports. Has anyone on here from the U.S. ordered directly from the Warp website with a credit card?

i know somebody who ordered a Warp t-shirt who went to my school.
i was lucky enough to grab the import of Chiastic Slide in an independent record store in town 3 years ago. it was about $27, but it was worth it.

DON'T DO IT! unless you're rich. warp needs to learn the hard way that americans don't want to pay expensive shipping rates to get cd's that should be available domestically. if they're not going to repress 'envane', both LFO albums (WTF????), 'donkey rhubarb', the least they could do is have a US warpmart to save on shipping. i mean they have a US office.
my advice: ebay.

The package will be full tits.
It's bullshit this US crap though, the contract states 'they'll exploit the music to their full extent' which is pretty crap if they meant their extent 10 years ago.

yea, i dunno where you read that contract stuff but i believe it.. i mean are there any other artists on the roster whose WHOLE ALBUMS are out of print here like LFO? i mean the aphex and Ae are just EP's, they should be in print because they're top artists, but it's not like their whole back catalogue.
thanks for the package whatever's in it.. are you listening to my show tomorrow? i'm doing a sort of electro set for 30 minutes, i hope i don't fuck it up

sir titsalot, envane and cichlisuite are $9 each, a fair price, and the shipping is $4.50 no matter the size of your order. buy four or five albums and it's comparable to sales tax (more than 7% where i live). and forced exposure has a pretty broad, comprehensive stock. sure, w.a.r.p. and the lfo are too expensive, warp's fault i think. here we have for ourselves an embarrassment of artistic riches, and we quibble over a few dollars.
honestly, i don't think lfo sells too many records, despite their legendary status.

envane and cichli suite are decently priced, but they'd be even cheaper if they were still in print here.. my point isn't so much that FE is overcharging as it is that warp is shooting themselves in the foot by not reissuing LFO and select Ae and aphex EP's and compilations.. only the hardcore fans are willing to shell out a lot of money for imports. i don't see why i should have to pay a few dollars more for no good reason; money's money.
btw LFO 'Frequencies' sold massively when it came out and remains one of the label's top sellers. same with LFO singles. and it's regarded as the first techno classic album so it's kind of baffling why it'd be out of print here. the 2nd album is a lot less popular but it's still a big artist. it's just a weird situation.

hmm it's not just LFO, NoW has an out of print album, sabres of paraside' whole discog is OOP, even black dog 'bytes' isn't available here and that's another "classic"
they've got to be preparing to reissue these though.... right?

"bytes" is just as surprising as "frequencies" really.. i mean that's like not printing "incunabula" or "i care because you do".. totally senseless
the NoW is 'a word of science' the rest seem to be in print on one label or another

it sucks.. i'm sorry for you. i wish they had these cd's for sale in your country so you didn't even have to pay shipping.
i'm not trying to be the ugly american here but the US is a bigger country than slovenia and we have a lot more music buyers, so i think it's fair we should have a US warpmart even though the rest of the world outside of the UK is in the same situation as us.

lfo sold a lot of records years ago. imo, "frequencies" has not aged well and sounds very dated, despite its status as a classic among some.
i remember when it was very difficult to get any electronic releases at all, when the internet was not an available resource. also, i remember when imports were really outrageously priced, how about $22 for a cd ten years ago? how about $30? so to me, this all sounds too much like the complaining of the spoiled.

you should come and live here...22$ is a good price for an import cd as we need to pay the import tax, but im not really complaining, if i'd think its to expensive i'd just download it - not going to happen tho

i order from warp on occasion. they usually kick me free stuff.
i've gotten promo vinyl (one that just said "autechre album" on it, i can't remember off hand which album it is.., and i got the AntiPop Consortium promo vinyl)
and i've gotten a variety of stickers and other tidbits.
and i'll confirm recycle's assertion that they are damn fast.

warpmart is a little expensive sometimes but really not any more than other import (to the u.s.) shops. actaully their shipping rates are pretty decent compared to some other stores, and the selection is good.
including shipping my last order of 4 cds came to only about $14 per cd, cheaper than local stores, and the cds probably aren't even in stock anyway. (of course one of them was an ep and one was the warpmart label sampler, so the price for a full-length is probably a higher).
